I have been a huge fan of your games since they first came out I think (true I was really young at the time but persistence coupled with trial and error managed me to get past the age check :]) and have played every one of them since (as well as Freddy Pharkas). I read on your website that you were going to make the next larry game in 3D before it got axed and I was wondering whether I would be able to get a copy of the models you were going to use in the game. Also what advice would you give a budding programmer/physicist (true a weird mix but I am the sort of person who always takes on too much) who has already gotten into a little game development with a major project for uni.
Yours in admiration,
Dale
Please tell me that the rumours are not true! I have read on several websites that Sierra isn't going to release any adventures anymore, and that Gabriel Knight III is the last adventure. I know your site is meant for fun and jokes, but I thought I'd ask it straight from the source. Isn't Leisure Suit Larry 8 - Larry Explores Uranus coming out? If so, why not?
I have heard that Sierra wants to focus its attention on shooters, but you can't neglect all of us waiting for the next Larry to come out (and the sequel to Freddy Pharkas Frontier Pharmacist, I'm still holding out for that too). I would most certainly buy a copy the day it hits the shelves.
Hope you can put my mind at ease
Yours sincerely,
Wilfred Schwartz
A HUGE fan
Tervehdys Al! I was reading your messageboard and I saw that many people told how much they hate Sierra and blaah, blaah. I think that it was a really stupid that they threw you out, but I still like to play some of Sierra's other games (King's Quest, Space Quest). I am even buying a new computer, an old one, to play older games (SQ4,5,6 LSL5,6 KQ5,6). I haven't seen any new games to my favourite series, except LSL Ultimate Pleasure Pack. I would be very happy if there ever would be new series to LSL and SQ. Have all of the "old" developers (Al Lowe, Marc Crowe, Scott Murphy) left Sierra? Do you think that it is right to say all those things of Sierra?
Sicerelly Aleksi
I bet you get these damned emails all the time, although I just think the real appropriate thing to do is to tell you myself I worship you (and Jane Jensen) and I want to seriously thank you for gracing the whole genre of adventure games with the Leisure Suit Larry series. Just had a couple of questions, if you have the time to answer:
1. Do you know the other big adventure series outta sierra, called Gabriel Knight? (If you do, what do you think about it)
2. Why did those dickheads at Sierra end the whole series?
3. Do you wish you could've ended the LSL series the way it shouldve ended?
4. Whatcha up to these days?
Well, I honestly want to thank you for everything you've done for the whole genre, and I really do love you, buddy.
Sincerely,
Ali Haeri
I just came across this site so I thought I'd send yo a email to say thankyou for the Larry games, they are some of the best games I have ever played and have had many hours of fun and laughter from them, I hope you will keep making them for as long as humanly possible.
Thanks again,
M. Chapman, (HUGE Larry fan)
ps, can I have your autograph hehehe
Hallo Al!! I just wanna say that you are the greatest !! You are one of my true idol of pc an tv games! I have all the larry games and they are just to good!! My favourit is larry7 love for sail!! What is your favourit larry game? Sometimes I nearly cries about larry8: Lust In Space. I`ts so sad that Sierra didn`t want to do it. Do you think there is something that could convince them to do it? I`m living in Sweden (you know in larry 6 "Swedish hot sauna" where Burgundy and Cav is with Larry). Do you know some dirty funny cheats to larry 6?
Good Bye Al!!!
/Jonas
I just wanted to tell you that I loved all of your Leisure Suite Larry games.. the EGA + VGA mode of Larry 1, the constant changes in Larry 2, (Larry 3 was kinda hard), the humor in Larry 5, (my first Larry, honetly) the whole game of Larry 6 and of course the legendary Larry 7 :-) Was programming games easier in the age of the earlier Larries or is it easier nowadys with the greater possibility range? ttyl
Leon
Hi Al Lowe. Finally I found your e-mail address. Since Larry 1, playing it at an age that I shouldn't be playing LSL games, I enjoyed the Larry games from the start on my EGA XT computer till Larry 7 on my Pentium.
As Dutch is my first language, I learned most of my english especially from the first Leisure Suit Larry, but also from the King's Quest series and Larry 2 & 3.
I think Sierra nowadays isn't the software company as it used to be. Games like LSL, SQ, KQ made it great and now they stop making them !
Why don't you make Larry 8 with another title (but with the same humor) so that Sierra's copyrights will not be violated ?
Thanks for the great games! Yours,
Erik Molenaar

first of all, I have to say I'm a huge fan of larry, freddy pharkus, and torins passage. I think you all got a bum deal on getting fired from sierra. I'm a cis major here in illinois, and I was wondering if you could help me out a little. I want to make a game like the old sierra adventures, but im a little stuck. I wanted to know how you implemented your script interpreter. any other tips about adventure game programming would be nice too. can you give out any source code, or is that illegal?
ps. do you have any projects going on, or are you done programming? I wish someone would start making some good games again, all these stupid 3d shooters are crap.
thanks
JT
God....Al..I don't know were to begin this news came as a shock to me!!!...I bought and finished LSL7 4 years ago and have been waiting for LSL8 since then..but I recently visited your site only to know that those IDIOTS at Sierra have decided stop producing larry games. How could they do such a thing?...Lsl games have always been hits..especially LSL7 which I concider the BEST adventure game ever...MAN that game had STYLE like no other that I've seen...not to mention the good times that I've shared with my friends while we played it......Al....there must be a way...there has to be way.....please don't let Larry die!!!
Fahad A. Al-Mashat
I started playing the LSL titles many moons ago. I last played one on early 98 (I think, so very long ago! Ha ah ha etc...). I was cleaning out my computer section of my house when I stumbled upon my old games. I grew up on Kings Quest and was delighted when I found out that Larry existed. Upon finding these gems, I started poking around on the "Internet" as the pop culture calls it. I was disappointed to find that Sierra, one of my favorite gaming companies, scrapped their adventure games! Why, I will never know. I also noted that you moved to the Seattle area. I hope you are enjoying the city.Anyways, I live quite close to the Sierra building in Bellevue, near Factoria. I'm going to stand outside the building and give them the frowning of their lives. I assume you know where I'm talking about if you've ever traveled to the Eastside. I'm glad you're doing well if your biography was created and updated recently. If everything sucks, well I'm sorry. But I wish you happiness in your musical and technological exploits.
Long time consumer,
Dan Gillmore
I recently finished LSL7 and went looking for LSL8...which eventually lead me to your site and here. I have to admit that had LSL not been cancelled I probably would never have written you because I’ve taken you for granted ‘lo these many years. Whenever I get the itch to play a game, I look for the latest LSL ‘cause it’s guaranteed to provide me with hours of engaging fun. As a fan of your work, I’d like to make the point that you deserve the credit for providing so much enjoyment to so many people. Thanks!
(I wish you had a dollar for every time you heard that!)

I am one of your biggest fans. I think that Leisure Suit Larry is the greatest game that anyone ever created. I still play all six of the Leisure Suit Larry games. Every time I play, I laugh like crazy. I am 17 years old and I am very interested in programming. I know Quick-Basic and a lot of Visual Basic. I attempt to create games using Visual Basic but so far I haven't finished any of them. Recently, I heard about Leisure Suit Larry being shut down and because you inspired me so much, hearing about the different things that you created, I decided that somehow I would continue the Leisure Suit Larry series and dedicate all of the games to you. I know that I will have to buy it from Sierra, but while I'm saving up the money to do that, I was going to create 3D Leisure Suit Larry 8. I just got a program called 3D Studio MAX Release 3.1, and I have attached two images that I have made for the game so far. One of Larry's bedroom and one of his bathroom. The bathroom is not completed yet, I still have to make the toilet.
I was also thinking of trying to create another INN type program because that was another thing that I was a big fan of. But the problem is I don't know what programming language to use. Can I make that type of program using Visual Basic, or do I have to use some other language? Thank you for inspiring me so much and I would REALLY appreciate it if you would email me back answering my programming question and telling me what you think about the images.
Thank You!! Your biggest fan,
Michael Giuliano
Way back in 1987, I picked up a copy of a game that would influence the rest of my life (well, ok, Quest for Glory or So You Want to Be a Hero also did a lot too) called Leisure Suit Larry. The reason why it would influence the rest of my life? Because it was genius, pure and simple. the mix of adventure gaming (I was a fan of text based adventures, ironically however, I’ve never had a chance to play SoftPorn) and the risque humor was an incredible mix. I still play that game today.
To get to the point, sir, I’d just like to thank you. as an aspiring programmer and game designer, your games have basically set the model for what I want to do in life. Thank you, sir.

Dear Sierra:
Hello, my name is Pamela. Pamela Bulger. I am female. 38-years-old. I love the “Leisure Suit Larry” suite of software, and the character. It is my favorite game series. (The only game series that I enjoy and purchase.) I purchased Leisure Suit Larry when I bought my first computer, in 1987 or 1988. I thought it might be fun. Boy what an understatement, IT WAS THE BEST!!!!! I purchased all the Leisure Suit Larry games as soon as they came out. THEY ARE ALL GREAT!!! Each game is better than the last. I was very disappointed to discover Leisure Suit Larry 8 will not be published. Please understand, I play all the Leisure Suit Larry games again and again. They never get boring. How many games do you publish which can claim that kind of customer loyalty? Please, please bring back Larry. I don’t think you understand the devoted following Larry has. Please save Larry.
Pamela Bulger
I’m anxiously awaiting another game in the WONDERFUL ‘Leisure Suit Larry’ series. Do you plan to do another or anything else hilarious along the same lines? I stumbled upon one of the Larry games having never played a game before. Now I am an avid gamer but have NEVER found anything as rich as Larry. A fan,
Laurie Pearson
I’m a current high school student (age 18) who as a kid watched my dad play Leisure Suit Larry: the land of the Lounging lizzard. My dad would let me watch, but told me to close my eyes during some portions of the game. When my dad and mom weren’t home, I tried to pass your five questions and play the game myself, but was unsuccessful. My first time completing the question portion, I had a great experience with the game! Although I was only 13, I was hooked on the game, and last year, on my crappy Tandy computer, I successfully completed the game!...I found it extremely hilarious and found out that you have a great sense of humor!...I am currently trying to find all the Leisure Suit Larry games, but am having no luck at all. I’ll keep trying.
have a nice day,
ROB!
Let me tell you a little story. The year is 1989, the place is Haifa, Israel, and the time is January - just after my brother’s 9th birthday. Guess what he got from old gramps? Correct - an IBM-compatible with CGA display. I was six at the time.
So... we muck about through all the good old games, Digger, Alley Cat etc. then after a week we get around a hundred disks from friends full of all sorts of games.
One of these games was Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards. And yeah - it was pirated (sorry!). Anyways, so we got about playing it.. after a day we found out how to, err, hack through the age verification system. Then we set about playing it. I must’ve spent weeks before I finally managed to complete the game; I barely knew English at the time!
The game ROCKS! Since then I’ve bought LSL6 (which is IMO the second best in the series), play the remakes of 1 and 3, and finally buy the Leisure Suit Larry Collection package. I haven’t regretted spending those $50, no siree.
You’re a sick guy, Al, and for that I thank you (one helluva programmer too)! You’re my God. And they let you teach ;-) Thanks!
Tomer
Say it ain't so.
I’ve been a Larry fan for quite some time now. I’ve got the original Larry on floppies, as well as Larry 7 AND the Ultimate Pleasure Pack. I’ve had it for quite some time now. Just last night I was reminiscing through old game boxes and came across it. Then it struck me, “Hey! What about a Larry 8?” So I come online today to check it out. I come to your website for the first time in my life (my apologies, sir) and look what I find!!!!!!!!! AHHH!
What's wrong with Sierra?? You probably get tons of email along this line, Mr. Lowe. There's a huge Larry following out there. I don't suppose OUR pleas can help at all??
You could always forward every one of our complaints right on over to Sierra, but they might say you were "spamming" (or should it be "sporking"?)
Anyway, PLEASE PLEASE tell me there’s something that can be done!
Thank-you for your time and entertainment over all these years.
Gratefully yours,
-Jeremiah Burns
I’m your big fan living here in Finland. (Finland? No polar bears on streets here... just a couple of Nokia buildings!)
Larry I was published just about month before I got my first PC. I played it, copied it, liked it, played it more and finally bought it. What comes to the rest of the games in this series - I bought all of them and kept playing them sooo many times. Many thanks to you for writing Larry-games!
I know you get a lot of fan mail, but I hope you have a little time to answer my few questions:
1) Sierra has no plans about LSL8. Codemasters has no plans about LSL8. Do you think this is really going to be the end of the story? So much time has passed since LSL7 was published, but I still don’t want to give up... Should I?
2) If there’s not going to be LSL8 why don’t you go to any other game developing company with your great ideas and start a whole new “trilogy”? Are you tired about programming and designing games? I hope that’s not the case.
3) I’m too late to wish you a merry christmas, but I wish you really HAPPY NEW YEAR! (What are your plans for year 2001?)

I'd just like to say "scew those bastards who decieded to stop the production of LSL8!!!"
I recently brought that massive collection of yours (the one with many names; Larrys Hits and Misses" "The Ultimate Pleasure Pack" etc) I'll never forget that time I first played the original, Leftys Bar and all. I never imagined the thrills I'd get from typing 'masturbate' and the screen responding "were here to put a stop to that Larry" (or something along those lines)!!!!
However if you do ever get to do another LSL, BRING BACK THE BODILY FUNCTIONS KEYS!!!
Cheers, and thanks for reading,
Sam
A while back in one of the collections, there was information about a book where you seemed to interview Larry and then some of his old girlfriends and what not by phone. I'm just wondering if theirs anywhere you can think of that I can order the book online, cause I'm interested in getting it now to put down with the rest of my Larry collection.
Another thing if you don't know where I could obtain one, do you have a copy????? I would gladly buy it off you, Larry was a good game, and Sierra's current management are fools for not pursuing an 8th after the sales of 6 and 7.
Last, it was a surprise to me a few years ago, around the time Sierra released Half-Life, to hear that you, Ken Williams, his wife Roberta, and others in the original Sierra team were no longer there. What happened?? Wasn't this originally Ken's company? I heard something like Havas bought Sierra out, but what happened for all of you to get laid off and leave? It was a sad day when I had heard that, I heard about an interview you all had done, and would love to hear it, but haven't located that either.
Either way, just another fan letter, telling you how much we miss you in the game industry and all your cool stories and ideas.
Hope to hear from you soon,
Andrew McDonald
Avid player of Leisure Suit Larry since the age of 6.......Long story...... :)
Hi! Just found out about your site while I was doing a search for a new Larry. PLEASE try to finish Larry 8 - Larry is my favorite computer game. I’ve been a ‘puter Geekette since 1990 and LSL I is one of the first games I played. And, it’s still better than most games out now.
Thanks for all the great stuff you wrote and please let us me know if you ever finish another game of any sort - I know anything you write will be great!
Thanks.
Deb
I am an 3D animator/modeler/aspiring designer at New World Computing- Heroes of Might & Magic team. I grew up playing Larry’s games as young horny kid who couldn’t get his hands on Playboy yet got a hold of your games. Now I am 19, work at a game developer and going to school at Art Center in Pasadenda, California.
Whoa. No more larry, this is a shocker. When I read an article in PC Gamer about the end of Sierra having anything to do with larry I thought “now there is a company who is willing to give up intelligent gaming for something like Balders Gate hack and slash mindless gaming.” When I sat down and thought about it I couldn’t accept Larry being gone. We all have a little Larry in all of us. I only wish you could buy back larry.Instead of sobbing about it....
My solution to you is that you create another character that has all your humoristic values and as likable as Larry. I know you can still write great adventure game and present in a way accessible to all of us. I have worked and familar with a myriad of technologies:
1) Wild Tangent is the first. wildtangent.com , created by Alex St. John a 3d accelerated streaming gaming plattform that works through your web page and uses Java/ Javascript as its programming lanuage. They have an authorware tool called WT studio. Very easy and one person can do everything from code, graphics and sound in a very short amount of time. You can present weekly or monthly. episodes. Very new, very easy and very effective. Check them out. Interaction very proven.
2) Macromedia flash. I am sure you have heard of this vector based animation tool that incorperates interaction based on a very easy and powerful scripting lanuage.Very artist friendly.
I would even offer my talents to help you. If you want a taste of my abilities as an artist I have placed an intro to one of our games at . I animated tarnum.
-Eric
Thought you’d like to know I’m sending this email off to Sierra, and
I wanted to personally thank you for replying to my emal. I never thought
I’d hear from you personally, and I’m touched.
To Whom It May Concern:
Why do we need a Leisure Suit Larry 8? The reasons are as numerous as the hairs on Mr. Laffer’s head. No, wait...bad example.
Leisure suit larry first became part of my life years ago when a friend mentioned in passing a game in which the main character basically tries to get laid. “He’s a lounge lizzard. He wants what he can’t have but keeps waiting around hoping he’ll accidently achieve the goal of obtaining it. ‘IT’ being sex.”
The idea sounded rediculous. How fun could a game like this possibly be? So I gave it a whirl.
Needless to say, a couple hours later I was still laughing my ass off as Larry failed time and time again in his quest for glory.
“What a one-hit wonder” I thought, assuming this was a once-in-a-lifetime type of game. Imagine my surprise when a slew of sequels hit the shelves in the next few years. And although, I’ll admit, I strayed away from the main portion of the series for much of it’s life, it all changed again with Larry 7.
I picked it up at a local software store, amazed with how far they’d come. Larry’s enhanced appearance made you just feel that much happier to see the guy.
I beat the game within a few weeks...much slower than I’d hoped but I was busy. I was suddely saddened by the fact that I didn’t have any of the other Larry games anymore.
OH BLESSED RELIEF when Sierra released the Ultimate Pleasure Pack. What a treat. Enhanced larry 1...even the TEXT GAME!!!!! This was too much!!!!! Oh happy day.
Well I quit paying attention to Larry again for awhile. But soon that craving came inside me to help Larry on new adventures. So I decided to see what I could find out about any upcoming sequels or releases.
I was taken to AL LOWE’S personal web site...HORRIFIED by what I found. Larry 8 was in the making, and then canned! WHAT WAS WRONG with Mr. Lowe? Didn’t he like our favorite bachelor anymore? Come to find out it was Sierra. They had apparently lost sight of what was most important in the business world: GIVING THE CUSTOMER WHAT THEY WANT.
It is quite plain by the long list of sympathy letters and fan letters that Mr. Lowe has posted on his site that a Larry 8 would most definately be appreciated. It would be loved by all. Cherished by any who have come to call this Lounge Lizard “friend.”
If these letters alone are not reason enough for Sierra to ressurect the Leisure Suit Larry games, then perhaps it is time for them to release the reins and pass on the mantle to someone who is more interested in quality than quantity. I’ve heard rumors of another company attempting to gain rights to the Larry Series. Apparently there are enough supporters of the game out there to get this other company interested in buying the rights. This would be a release of what Sierra sees as an “unprofitable market” and it would help out many gamers and this new group of programmers in the process. Not to mention the loveable AL LOWE.
If Sierra refuses to make a Larry 8, they need to release him. They may own the rights to the series, but Larry Laffer belongs to us, the fans. And the fans have spoken.
Sincerely,
Mr. Jeremiah L. Burns, Gamer
I’m Lorenzo and I’m a fan of yours. I’m Italian so please excuse any eventual grammatical errors of mine, my scholastic english poorly fails sometimes, hehehe!
First of all, my congratulations, since the “Leisure Suit Larry” series is one of my absolute favourite game series ever! And even more important, in my personal graduatory you are, together with Ron Gilbert, just one step below Groucho Marx, in my opinion the greatest comic genius ever born!
But I wrote you for something I'd like to know, could you help me? Playing the Larry games I've learnt to love its music, music that I still listen with much pleasure when I'm doing anything with my PC (this thanks to GameAudioPlayer, http://anx.da.ru, and Quest-Studios, www.queststudios.com/quest/sierrap1.html). The problem is: I'd like to have more, to get deeper in this genre, but I frankly don't know which name this genre of music has! I asked a bit around, and someone told me it's mostly "Jazz Flavor with Latin" (or something alike, I can't remember very well...), but it didn't help much in my researches... could you please help me? Or, even better, could you suggest me any artist I should check out in music-stores?
I thank you in advance, and please excuse me if I bothered you! I wish you a great luck for all your future projects, with a secret hope that maybe someday Sierra will finally let you write and make available a Leisure Suit Larry 8! :-)
I see you soon!
I am a great fan of the Leisure suit Larry games. And I was wondering, if you could send me some information about the progress of Leisure suit Larry 8. I have heard several rumors that there will not come a Larry 8, or that you will skip to Larry 9. If you sent me that information, I will be very grateful.
Yours sincerely,
Rutger Schuurmans
I was hugely disapointed when I heard that there was to be no more Larry 8. Surely there must be a way to produce the game? It’s a great shame that Sierra have cast classics such as Larry aside in favour of shoot-em-ups such as Half-Life. I hope you find a way around it and good luck!

A few bits and bytes of text flowing through cyberspace isn't going to do much, but I need to say "Thank You" for all the joy you brought my friends and I over the years.
I played my first LSL game back in the early 90's -- it was LSL1 as I recall at a friend's house who had an IBM-compatible PC. I was still stuck with the poky old C64 at the time.
I can honestly say that Larry was the deciding vote in whether or not I purchased a PC. A game so simple yet so complex, and filled with the sophomoric wit I've always loved. Each sequel found its way into my library -- legally. It remains the only series in which I bought every release, including the recent re-release with everything on 4 CD's.
On your website, you posted an article you wrote about the time you met Shigeru Miyamoto. While Miyamoto's games have brought me pleasure over the years (Mario, Zelda, etc.), so have yours. I consider you to be Mr. Miyamoto's equal; however, the genre of games you each produce makes it impossible to compare you objectively.
I was never a fan of text-based adventure games -- spending hours at the keyboard trying to find the right combination of words that the engine will understand was maddening. "Kill dwarf" "With what?" "Kill dwarf with axe" "What?" "Use axe on dwarf" "What?" "Throw axe at dwarf" "You killed the dwarf!" Arrgh.
The first computer game I literally fell in love with was Lucasfilm's "Maniac Mansion". Had all the elements of the adventure games I loved without the cryptic interpreter. Plus, I could actually see the room I was in! Took me many, many hours to beat that game.
It was then that I discovered Larry. I have to remember to call my friend Richard and thank him for introducing me. FINALLY, a game that I could get into a little more. The characters were all REAL, and the game was devoid of some nonsensical and overused cliched goal such as to save the world.
I've rambled on enough now. Mr. Lowe, thank you for the smiles, thank you for the memories, and thank you for Larry Laffer.
Hopefully someday Sierra will at least give you the rights to produce another sequel. (Potential Bonus Sidequest/Easter Egg: Blow up Sierra Inc.)
With Warmest Regards,
Pat Savino
P.S. By the way, in LSL7 when I attempt to "look at Peggy's chest", the narrator cracks a joke about how he "can't say that", complete with you laughing in the background. What was the original joke supposed to be, or was it planned like this all along?
Hi, I just want to point out first that the games u have created owns! all larry games, the design is prefect!
To bad Sierra kicked u and left larry license with them :(
But keep it up dont "crash" together :) you got special skills and dont waste them on girls and beer (well sometimes u have to). I was wondering if u got any plans going on now? any new games underconstruction?
I mean with your record! every boss in the game community have once played larry.
Also keep it up with larry ideas, u never know...soon u might get a chance to continue with larry.
Im currently learning C++ in school, and I wondered if u could help me abit.. I want to tryout to make a larry game, (with the old system in larry 1) I think I got alot of qualites and can be a great designer, I have and are also doing modifications (mods) to Half-life and such and I feel I belong to designing games. so I want to do a classic, and why not a Larry (but with my own story and name etc.). .. please reply to a FAN to not just Larry but also U al lowe!
Robert Burman (sweden)
My name is Joker, Joel Joker and I enjoyed playing LsL7 so often times. But when will No 8 appear in Germany? I´m waiting for the next game of Larry, you´ll program. I played the Leisure suit Larry No. 1 (in the land of lounge lizards) ten years ago on an Atari and I really was surprised, watching the current Larry7. The graphics are phantastic, think about Larry1. Greetings from
Joel Joker
Hey, im not sure if Al will actually get this but if he does I wanted him or you to know that I have loved these games since I played the first one as a kid at my friends house. I am now 19 in college. I would have to say I spent the last few days playin #7 and I loved it. I would also have to say when I won the dice game and didnt get that girls bra off I was a little upset. I know its been awhile since you have made a larry game. Though I would love a new one and one with alot of things like that strip dice game that really was cool. If you could just give me some info about some stuff. I actually have alot of ideas for different things. Oh, and if by chance you have any larry games new or things you never did that you have I would love to have them. Your games make my week nights great nights. From a true fan,
Connor Fux

Of course, I don't know you personally, but I think I know you for years, if you know what I mean. Look, I'm from Germany. And it's hard to get all Larry-Games. But I've tried hard to get 'em! Always when I saw the SIERRA-Logo, I took a deep breath 'cause I always thought about ONE thing: Leisure Suit Larry!!! In 1994, I bought my first computer (I was 11 then) and the first real game I got was "Leisure Suit Larry: Shape up or slip out" nearly two years later. And I can tell you, I had such a great fun, I played for weeks. Again and again. I think I've NEVER laughed that much. And it is still one of my favourite computer games. But then, after years of fun, I read that Al Lowe (the god g) was fired by Sierra and Larry8 was laid on ice. I thought that was a joke. Just kidding.
But... it was the truth. That was about the time when Half-Life was released. And everybody played HL. EVERYBODY! But I didn't! "NO!" I thought. "I'll never play a game from Sierra again if they don't let do Al his work (or better: that, for what he's determinated). OK! Sorry, but Half-Life has become such an important game that after some time I had to play it. But I've always been thinking on what Sierra has done. I swear, if I was a hacker, I would hack the Sierra-Server! Wrath! AH! -sorry, but...
I'm only 17 years old, but Sierra destroyed my whole life! I'm happy that you've some sounds and pics so that I can get some Larry-stuff.
If you really read this Mail, PLEASE send one back! I just want to know what you REALLY think of Sierra and what you'll do in future.
Yours (true and loyal German Larry-fan) ARNE
Hi Al, my name is Danny, I live in Sydney Australia, and Im a long time fan of the series, I have copies of each game (Im not one of those cheap bastards who just bought the pack that had all the games, I actually bought each individual game when it was released over here). Anyway, Im a film student, and I was just wondering.. have you or have you considered writting a script for a Leisure Suit Larry movie?
I would love to take on that kind of project, and I was just thinking that not many people out there could really pull off a convincing performance as Larry Laffer.
But then, I just remembered.. ROB SCHNIEDER (Sorry, Im terrible at spelling) former saturday night live cast member, and star of Deuce Bigalow Male Gigalow. He LOOKS like Larry, except for no recieding hairline, he has that high pitched voice similar to larry, and he is Larry's size, short and a little overweight!
Anyway, I just wanted to run that question by you, it would really be my dream project. Thanks,
Danny
I’m a big fan of your work, and think it’s totally unfair how the canceled Larry 8. I was really looking forward to playing it. Anyway I had an idea that you could approach Sierra with which could possible get your mates’ attention and bring Larry back: Larry 9 (RPG). The Larry 8 disks were obducted by Aliens and never seen again. Or just Larry 8 - "Larry's Last (Lust) Chance"
Is Leisure Suit Larry 8 out? if not why not? There seems to be a demand, so supply it! I want lust in space! A Larry fan,
James Grimshaw
Just wanted to tell you that we the public appreciate your talent and years of service with LSL. We have played them all, and would continue if "they were available." Al, it would not have to be LSL. I could be a Travolta want to be, or something like that. Isn't there something you can/could do, as there are many people out there that want it to continue? And many, that don't even know that LSL exists. "we" the public, can help change that by "word of mouth" and the power of prayer. The number of computer users are growing every minute.
Think about it, but more important, thanks for all you have already done. It is appreciated. GREAT TALENT by the LSL team!!!
Dwight
hey al my names ben and ive been playin the sax for 9 years I was wonderin if there was anyway to get ahold of some lsl sheet music for the theme or for that case any of the various songs from the game. I just love that jazz stuff its cool. by the way I beat every one of your games and they all rule man I started playin them in 1997 and it took me like 2 years but I beat them all. its really to bad that sierra stoped lsl like that I hope you get your chance to finish lsl in the best way possible even if theres only one more it would still be one of the best games I ever played I know it.
thanks for yer time al

Just discovered your site. I know that Yosemite has been shut down already a while ago. One of the first games I played was Larry when I was about 13. Once I saw the game on a CGA I knew what I wanted to be: a games programmer! And now, after 11 years, I already programmed about 10 succesfull titles in europe. My dream was to join your team there and become your collegue for the production of any adventure game. Well that could’ve worked until Sierra shut down Yosemite... So no collegues I guess. It’s a shame that adventure games are dying. I know all about it now, and also the reasons behind it. Computergaming was much more fun when it had a select target group. Now the jokes must all be politically correct, and the gameplay extremely easy to understand. A game like larry (oooh difficult that text input and such offensive jokes!) couldn’t possibly be released by any company now.
Thanks for the fun I had the last decade! You (AND YOUR TEAM) have been the computer game pioneers! I do wonder what you are doing now, though...
Hope I get a letter back from you,
> Jelle van der Beek
I would just like to know what Al Lowe the maker of Larry is doing these days? I was a great fan of larry and larry was 1 of the games that brought me up throught the PC age, I remember playing it on my 286 processor then on my 486 processor and I also played it on pentium processor. All different espisodes of larry. Its really sad that there is no Larry 8 :(
I would just like to thank you for creating Larry and it seems you guys really had fun making that game. I am 19 years old and I do not know what career to choose as yet :( But whatever it is I hope it is something like what you had, something that I would enjoy alot too. Maybe I can become a programmer too and code a game similiar to larry in the future ;)
Anyway, thanks from
Moey
I always loved the Sierra games and specially yours. I allways of course bought those games and today those originals are really treasures. Larry was such a loser(but cool). In an interview with Power Play you said that you´re a Rocky Horror Fan. Good Taste!!!!!!
Man, those 80´s were so great. Donald Duck’s Playground and Winnie the Pooh in the Hundred Acre Wood were absolute classics. For me they rank in the best 100 games of all time. Thank you for the good times,
Thomas from Austria
MY name is Alexa and I’m a big LSL fan. I live in Sweden and Larry is really well known here. When I first heard about the LSL, I thought that its justa big piece of #"¤!. When I actually played it I couldn´t rip it off from the computer. Then I bought all the Larry games. When I finished LSL 7 it said that LSL 8 was coming. I went looking for information in LSL´s homepage and they said that they will scrap it.....NO!!!! The Larry culture can´t just die.
Millions of people are waiting with their computers for the next adventure of Larry. And if nobody can help it, I hope somebody will put life in the most beloved computer character of all times. And if the sombody is you, it would be a big favor for everybody. If not, then I will put life in him.
Al, I have been a fan of yours dating back to when the first LSL came out. I was very young then (I am 28 now) and I used to have to sneak behind my parents back to play the game on my.....drum roll please......Tandy 1000. I loved Sierra’s point and click adventures (still my favorite kind of game), and back in the day, you and Roberta Williams were my software heroes. Some of my fondest memories of my childhood was sitting in front of my computer playing KQ, SQ and LSL with my parents (well, maybe not LSL WITH my Parents, more like at 2 am while they were asleep).
I am saddened by the news of LSL 8 being terminated, I know I’m kinda late on this. I would have thought that the recent success of point and click adventures such as Escape From Monkey Island, The Longest Journey, Grim Fandango, Sanitarium and Curse Of Monkey Island would spark Sierra’s interest to make a 8th installment of Larry. I know that the latest installment of Space Quest was canned (much to my dismay) and also, with the bad press of the latest King’s Quest, I doubt Roberta Willims will be making any more KQ series.
This all SUCKS!! With the recent boom in 3d technology, developers seem to think that that is the way to go (cough!...lucasarts...cough!). Well, I do not necessarily agree with that. I much preferred the 2d gameplay of LSL 7 and Sanitarium compared to Grim Fandango and Escape from Monkey Island. (I know I’m pretty much alone on this.) But my feeling is you can get much more facial expressions on 2d games, which as you should know is essential to a good LSL game, or any point and click for that matter. Don’t get me wrong though, I would love to see a 3D Larry. PC gamers need to remember that it was these games (LSL, PQ, KQ, SQ series) that put PC gaming on the map. I know I have read posts on your forum regarding rights to Larry, but any adventure game made by you with your “humor” would be a step in the right direction.
I once considered Sierra to be the best software company, but now they are pretty much lost in the mix. They need something to get them in the game again. I do not want to see the end of graphic adventure gaming any more than you. I wish you luck and I hope (and pray!) that one day I will be able to play my favorite swinging leisure suit hero again!
Sincerely,
Jason Hall

I don’t want to take up too much of your time, but I just wanted to thank you for wasting a good portion of my childhood while I tried to conquer all of your amazing games. ;)
Honestly though, your work and the work of your peers at Sierra got me through some tough times living in a small town where the only other alternative for entertainment was teen drinking. You’re probably partially responsible for me not having a police record!
I also wanted to thank you very deeply for supporting Sarinee’s Underdogs web page, and providing all of your long lost works to the public domain. Those are truly treasures that have been missing for way too long, and they are extremely appreciated amongst us oldskoolers.
thanks!

Hi Al,
Well, I’m sure you won’t answer my email, but I really wish you would. I want you to know just how much joy your games brought to my life. Larry was the best. You have got to be one of the funniest people ever. After visiting your site I would have to agree that the computer games back then (and now) needed something more softpornish. Personally I think it could have been a little more so!! Thank you so much for designing the best game series in history. Your games brought me so much happiness!!!
Wendy
I think it’s great that you have allowed free downloads of Donald Ducks playground and Mickeys Space Adventure. I remember when I was 9 back in 1987 and getting a commodore 64. I was given my first games Mickey’s Space Adventure, Dragon’s Keep and Donald Duck’s playground. I loved those games, they were great. I still remember to this day not being able to pass Jupiter in Mickey because I couldn’t find one of the rocks needed and contacting Sierra (via Snail Mail with a dot matrix printer) for a hint, and actually getting a response from them. It was great to see them avaiable for download and to relive the memories. I thought the artwork was incredible (I still think it’s better then half the games avaiable for the commodore 64 and even some more modern ones for windows.) Until about 2 years ago I had no idea you created them. So in some respects your games helped shape the intrest for computers I have today. Good Luck to you. It’s a shame the new clowns at Sierra have no idea what they gave up.
Best Wishes,
Ian Lefkowitz
Hi, I just wanted to say thanks for putting some of your older games on your website. I don’t care how old these games are, they are still fun to play, and I thank you for creating them.
Eddie
Mr. Lowe, I just want to tell you that LSLLLL (Larry I) was the first adventure game I ever played -more than 10 years ago! It is still one of the very few I would re-play without second thought, if I could still find it somewhere (my diskettes have long become unusable...). Then came the King’s Quest series, and then came the addiction to the genre.
So, thank you for the hours of liberating laughter you have given me. And on behalf of all the people who are still (or again) trying to find and (re-)discover these games, through abandonware, I thank you one million times over and again!

Hey Al!
Hows it goin? Its Michael here from Cairns, Australia. I’d just like to say that I thoroughly enjoy your work and the Larry series is a real gem. I’ve played the whole larry series and even the text based game larry 1 was based on. This is true isn’t it? My absolute favourite would have to be Larry 6: Shape Up or Slip Out talkie version. I got it for a real bargain but my friend went and moved to Brisbane with it so now I’m stuck with Indiana Jones And the Fate of Atlantis and Sam and Max Hit the Road.
A game I also enjoyed was Freddy Pharkas: Frontier Pharmascist. It is a little buggy on my machine but its still a pretty good game. Anyways what are you doing nowadays? Are you planning on any new larry games? or maybe a new project?
Congrats on all the greats games you’ve made. I’ll always be a hardcore inventory based adventure gamer.
Cheers,
Michael
Mr. Lowe,
I was checking one of my favorite sites today “The Home of The Underdogs” and their current news said that the old sierra games were up for download again. They also mentioned you and Roberta Williams support the “classics” and feel that if they are no longer supported or being sold, that they should become available for the general public.
All I can say is, Thank you! I remember growing up, when my parents bought the first PC I could use, they got the “Black Cauldron”. I played that game forever, beating and re-beating it, getting every possible ending.
As I got a little older, A friend of mine introduced me to Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards. While I had played Zork and other parser based games - both with and without graphics - I was utterly captivated by Larry. I imagine that part of it had to do with raging teenage hormones, but the story was so original. I was captivated. When Larry 2 came out, My friends and I raced out and bought it (after convincing the clerk we were old enough ;) ). This continued up until Larry 5, which I bought and played. For several years after that, I did not have a computer, so I did not get to play Larry 6 or 7, But I did manage to play and defeat Freddy Pharkas: Frontier Pharmasist.
I do hope that you continue creating wonderfully twisted games, and that as a programmer, and human being in general you rank very high in my book.
Thank you for your time,
Nathan H.

P.s. Is there any possibility of Larry 4 ever being released, or was the lost of the source code the death knell for Larry 4?
Thank you for Larry. In 1990 it pushed me to learn english to be able to play the game, and now it help me a lot in my daily work here in Peru. Thank you for be a computer-hero. Sincerely. And thank you for the abandonware support. Only the die-hard fans appreciate it.

I am a big fan.... I think Leisure Suit Larry were one of the crasiest personas in computer history, and I think the games are the crasiest ever (that’s a good thing, hehe), but what I really admire you for is Torin’s Passage. I simply adore that game... it is one the adventures I have played the most, and it is funny, has a good story and some great puzzles. (Just thinking of the voice-piecing-together-to-get-out-of-the-labyrinth gives me shivers.), Well... I don’t exactly how much you were involved, but I think it is a great game... well... that’s all I wanna say....
cheers,
a big fan,
Kristian from Denmark (cold a lot of the time = plenty of time to play on the computer, hee hee)
Al, you rule. I can remember when in Jr. High I called up Sierra to talk to a programmer to get some insight for a paper I was writting. You see, computers have always facinated me, and becoming a game designer or programmer was something I always thought I'd like to do. So when I got hold of everyone in Oakhurst I was quite overwhelmed. I remember that I spoke to Robert Heitman and Chris Iden, but I'm sure if you had known, you would have been first in line to talk to me. Thanks for being there when I needed you. Did I mention that you rule.
I guess that would have been about 1990 or so. Thank you for the laughs, I owe my style of humor to you, as sick and twisted as it may be. I keep telling myself that is a good thing.
Lastly, thank you for supporting abandonware. My original disks have long since left me, and if I had a 5 1/4" disk dirve today, I'm not sure I would be able to read those disks anymore. The games I play today, don't match the intelligence, wit, and humor that I remember from the early adventure game genre.
/Ryan
p.s. That age verification system causes me as much trouble now as it did when I was 10 -- I mean 18.
just like to let you know that Leisure Suit Larry was one of the few things that added a lot of fun while I was growing up.
thanks for putting that work in. :)

I love your site I want to thank you very much for putting up the old black cauldron game, I still have the old disks and the manual but they’re broken. Your site’s great and the games you worked on are excellent I only wish the Leisure suit larry games could be played by the younger generations as well maybe you could’ve changed some things if the age they put in was below 18 they’re very funny I love to see larry beaten up in the alley and sent down to the Sierra charactar workshop where they throw him into the shredder (and if it’s not what do they do with him). Do you hear from the other developers you worked with at Sierra? Oh yeah I need to ask you something is Ken Williams the president of Sierra and if so what’s with the decision to stop producing adventure games what’s going on. Anyway thanks for making such a cool site.

im gabriel berry and I own all the Leisure Suit Larry titles and freddy pharkes and would just like to say hows it goin.I know you here this alot but your games kick ass my favorite is freddy pharkes I played it over and over again. it was like a drug to me. well im a big fan of your work and would just like you to know you’re hilarious [I dont think I spelled that right] and you rock.
gabriel berry
I feel like I already know you (In Leisure Suit Larry 3 we met in the bistro :)) and I wanted to thank you for helping the Underdogs...I have a lot of Sierra games (the entire LSL series CD, SWAT, Police Quest series and all of the Kings Quest games as well.)and have always enjoyed them immensely. For sheer playability and ease of use Sierra wins hands down every time.
Many fans were devastated when you left Sierra..Larry was and is not only a memorable character...he’s kind of an icon as well..Like many others, I am an aficionado of abandonware, and as a matter of fact believe that software companies should support their old games....or at least consider them as freeware if they aren’t interested any longer.I even have Hellfire, Sierra’s add on to Diablo.
Are you staying in the games field?? Is there another Al Lowe special waiting in the wings??
Good luck...from a devoted fan and gamer.

The first Computergame I ever played was LSL 2, the first game I ever bought was LSL3. Now that Sierra has decided to cancel all Adventure Projects I wonder if there is any Chance for another Larry game to be released ever. In my Opinion there are many people who´d like to play some really tradional adventure stuff. I think it doesn´t matter if its 3D or 2D but it should be an Adventure. Please mail me back.
Yours
Florian
First of all, let me say it’s an honor to me that you may be reading this. I love your Leisure Suit Larry games. I just found out today that you are no longer with Sierra and that there is no more Larry games. Of course, I also found out that they’re totally discontinuing the whole adventure gaming, which is what made the company what it is. People like Ken and Roberta Williams, The Two Guys from Andromeda, and YOU. I think you all should get back together, start a New Sierra, and get back to what we all love and grew up with...Larry not getting laid. Ok, there is my two cents worth.
I just found your website and I’m anxious to look at it. I just wanted to write you first, and say thank you for bringing Larry into our lives.
Sincerely,
Chris Moore
Hey Ally, can I call you Ally?
Hahaha. Well anyway, I was at your site ( choice site man ) and I noticed you mentioned that LSL ultimate pleasure pack had everyone of your games. Now I could be wrong becuase I dont own the pack, but I dont think it comes with the Woodruff and Schinnbel ( whatever ) game. I remember when I got Space Quest 6 it had a promo for the game. I remember it saying Created from the humor mind of AL Lowe ( or smoething like that ). Then it had a clip of you laughin at a porch swing ( I think ). So whats up with this? A minor technicality? Hmmmm. I think not! Your trying to hide from me ( the gamer ) the truth about your progamming! um err wait no. Well anyway if you could answer that question I would be more than happy and will shower you with the finest meats and cheeses in all the lands.
P.S Where can I get a copy ? Couldn’t find it on Sierra’s site.
P.P. Who did you model Larry after? I always thought he had Chuck Norris’s nose.
P.M.S Are you a evil game programmer, working for a intergalactic company that monitors gamers every in hopes to make the ultimate game??So you can suck every last drop of money out of every living creature on the planet?? I wait that was Ken Williams sorry..
Al,
First off I have to give you major kudos on the whole Lesiure Suit Larry series. I still play them all. Ill put them down for a couple months but then I'll pick back up and let the fun begin again. I would have to say that LSL 3 is my personal favorite. I think it may be just because that the 1st LSL game I ever played. I remember going to my friends house to play on his 486. We hid the bag so his mom couldnt see the game ( I was like 14 at the time). After loading it from 5 1/4 in floppies we played for hours and hours. It was so much fun. I continued with the series and recently tried to get the ultimate pleasure pack, but alas Sierra is sold out of them. I don't get why they cut LSL out. My best guess would have to be that Sierra has kinda gone into this "We are the ruler of the family games" mindset and I think that is where they are. LSL isnt exactly a family game, well maybe a disfunctional family, but for the "normal" family I coulnd see playing find the dildo in sls 7 as a family activity. I do, however, think that they could at least release the rights so you can contine on lsl 8. They shouldnt kill the series cause they had a change of heart. Well anyway, I just wanted to let you know that you have inspired me to work on my own computer game. I have been working on the boards lately and though I have no offical sposorship and it will probably take forever for me to crank this bad boy out, everyone needs to start somewhere. Maybe some day I will be getting a letter like this from one of my fans.

If your the real Al Lowe, I just wanna say your the best game programmer. Leisure Suit Larry 2 was the first game I ever played and was well worth my time and caused me to wanna play the rest and even start playing eventually almost all the sierra games. I gotta question, what happened to sierra where all the good developers stopped making games and leisure larry 8 sorta just disappeared and ken and roberta aren’t recognized much anymore, though all us gamers know that SIerra On-Line before “big change” was the best company for games and gamers alike. and I was wondering how you are doing and what are you doing now that your not heard much in gaming?
I just wanted to contact you to ask you a question. first off I love your game Leisure Suit Larry’s casino. my question is.......where can I get all the sounds for annette boning . I had over 700 wavs for her but I havent played it in a while and I just installed the game on my pc again. but cant get the wavs. every site I go to to get them I always fun into some kind of problem where I wont get any sounds or only some of them. please I need my sounds, my character is speachless. please help me. your my last hope. I figured you can help me since you are the creator of the game.I hope you can help. I will be forever in your debt.
bianca
I wonder if I get a list of people who wants that there’s going to be another larry Game would it be possible for sierra to make another game of Larry because I know plenty of people who want another Larry Game for example the whole of U.S.A. many people in Sweden and Japan. Please I’m dying for another larry Game because I’m sitting home and finishing all of them over and over again. I’m so desperet I’m nearly going to try out Lula Wet attack (sexy Empire) Help.
From a Swede......

Dear Al Lowe,
I am very happy that I am sending an e-mail to the creator of Larry. I don’t remember the version of the first Larry I played, but it was so interesting that I kept playing for the whole night. I was a BS student and now I am a PhD.
The last version I could get here from black market was Larry 6. Games of this kind are banned here. I am really sorry that version 8 is not going to be released. I wish you can negotiate with other companies to continue it.
Best Regards,
Ali
Wow...
You probably get lots of mails, so I'll be brief. I haven't played a Sierra game for years, but coming across the sierragamers.com site brought it all back in a flash. It's quite cool that the internet now lets you e-mail your heroes...
Thanks for giving the world Larry. My classmates and I were twelve or thirteen when we sneakily managed to obtain a few copies of Mr. Laffer's various mis-adventures, and it was a major topic of conversation for many many months, believe me. Someone would get a bit further in the game, tell us what happened, and we wouldn't believe them! Larry dresses as a can-can girl? Naaah! Patti is shagged by a pig? You're pulling my leg!
Part III was definitely my favourite, with all those little touches like the various animations on the save/restart/restore boxes... or the way the credits continued appearing within the opening screens of the game in a TV Movie styleee...
(There was just one little thing that bothered me. In part III, what was the point of that paved area in the jungle where you could read the paper and watch TV? I completed the game and nothing seemed to happen there...)
Now, where's my copy of 'Nontonyt Tonite'?
-Patrick
I interviewed with Sierra’s Home division in January 1999 and was offered a job. One of the biggest enticements to accept the offer was having the chance to work for the company that gave the world Leisure Suit Larry ... and, dare I mention it, the idea that at some point I might be lucky enough to be introduced to the creative talent behind the Larry series.
I actually started work at Sierra Home the week that they put Larry out of his misery (or tied him up in the basement, take your pick). Finding out that one of my major reasons for accepting the job was defunct at the outset should have served as a foreshadowing of what was to come...
I often wondered if the transfer of ownership of Sierra from Cendant to Havas Interactive didn’t have something to do with the cancellation of the series; the French have a reputation for heavy-duty political correctness, with which Larry Laffer fits not at all.
In common with everyone who writes you, it seems, I really regret the demise of the adventure game. I wanted to pass along my thanks for the many hours of fun with suggestive drawings, rude behavior, catchy theme music, and smarm which is Leisure Suit Larry.
Regards,
Alix D. Sensale
PS Freddy Pharkas was lots of fun as well. I was sorry that he didn’t seem to have enough of a following for a sequel.
Have wrote some times before to you regarding the possiblility to make adventuregames without Sierra with the old characters like Larry,King's Quest and so on and believe it or no,I'll write it again!
Why should it not be possible to create some kind of new company that would specialize on making adventuregames? It could be some sort of a co-operation company, meaning that it could be up to thousands partners in the company! Here in Sweden there are many companys that works this way!
And if Sierra refuses to sell the rights of the classic games(money should be no problem if there's enought interest)then let's just come up with new game idéas!
Or is this just this dreamthinking of a 16 year old swedish boy?
Best regards,
Henrik Johansson
I'm sitting here at my first real computer job surfing the web doing a follow up on LSL seeing how things have come along. Im 18 and throughout my life I swear larry has been in my mind since day one.
Back in the the early 80s my dad brought home an IBM XT 8086 with larry on it. 1984 I think. I was 2 at the time. Larry.. the game was honestly a family game to us because it was the only game on the computer and it was better then the atari games we had at the time.
Anyways I remember walking around getting run over and beaten up in the alley. When I look back at those days I have a HUGE smile because the games were so fun.
My mom to this day still insists that LSL1 taught me to spell. I was the first kid on the block to learn how to spell sex at age 3 or 4. ha ha. When my dad brought home LSL2 I remember the whole family fighting to play the game. To this day I think that LSL2 is the best one you have made so far. We then bought LSL3 and played that game through. I was a little older and my cousins and I looked forward to the holidays because we all packed in front of the computer to see this cool guy do things that at the time where amazing to us. When LSL5 came out I bought a copy of that and at first glance was disappointed that the game lost the 80s graphics style. But the game was fun to play. I never bought another larry game because I felt the magic kind of drop out or I lost touch with the game. I grew up I guess and didnt have time for games.
But im writing this letter to praise you for your work. I grew up with Larry and I remember having dreams of being in LSL2 and one time had a scary dream of the cab drive in LSL1. My mom and I joke about that.
Your awesome, Al.
Last but not least. Have you ever had the urge to create another larry in the same fashion as LSL1 2 with the 1980s style graphics? I would pay you thousands of dollars to create one. Thanks again for the memorys, Al.

Hi! My name is Wagner from Brazil.
I’m glad for finding you URL. It’s a great oportunity to talk to you, because of Leisure Suit Larry... I just can say that I played “LSL 7: Love for sail” and I simply loved it! Before that, I only played action, Doom Style games in the computer, and after LSL7, I become a adventure games fanatic! The other titles of LSL series is hard to fnd in Brazil.
I loved the jokes, the puzzles, and, particularly, Leisure Suit Larry himself. It’s excelent music and the caracters made me felt like if that entire universe was real, alive.... When I finish it, I feel sad, saudous, like if I lost a great friend, so I played it, again, but it was not the same sensation.... I knew already the levels, and the situations...
So, for my sadness, I read about Sierra and the end of the LSL games... It really makes me feel down. I’m one of the fans that write an e-mail to Sierra, asking for the continuity of the series, but I think it didn’t help in anything. And, I read what you said about the copyright of LSL belong to Sierra, so I believe it’s impossible to think about a LSL game from another game publisher... That's unfair.
But, I want just to ask if you have plans to make another games titles, in the LSL style.Because, in the modern day in computer games, with a lot of muscled caracters, shoot and kill everything, blood and violence per se, I really miss some good, funny, well humored and charismatic, a little horny, Leisure Suit Larry in this world...
Well, I think it’s all I had to tell... Please, I hope you read it...
Thank you very much, sorry for my poor english
Wagner
I am a huge fan of Leisure Suit Larry series, I have all seven or six because of part 4 and I was wondering why Leisure Suit Larry 8 isn’t in stores yet. I read on a page that sierra stopped the production of part 8, and I was wondering if it was true, and if so why? I’m sure your probably sick of recieving this kind of e-mail, but please respond.
From a huge fan
Rob Maiatico
P.S. What’s the deal with part 4 anyway?
Hi, i Guilherme, a fan of the Larry games since i buy my first (and only) computer, i wanna ask you a things: You work for sierra on-line yet? If yes please do a favor to me, ask then to release the “ultimate pleasure pack” to the playstation console, its not this hard convert a game, this will not give mutch work for sierra on-line and a grant will give a lot of money to sierra because larry is the best adventure game i ever played and a lot of people with ps will buy it. If a ask to sierra directly they will not attend me, then PLEASE DO THIS FAVOR TO ME
RIGHT? THANKS THANKS THANKS
Guilherme, your friend from Brazil
My name is Michael Sunich I’ve been playing the larry games since i was about 8 (i know i shouldn’t have been but oh well) And stumbled across your site there are two things i have to ask of you A:) I CANT FIND A COPY OF LARRY 7 ANYWHERE :*-( and i Havn’t got no Credit card cause i don’t like em B:) i own larrys greatest hits (and misses) but cant seem to get the VGA version of larry 1 working ... any ideas?
when i found out about larry 8 been canned just like space quest i was shocked cause space quest and larry were the coolest series that Sierra put out and they have killed (put into limbo) both of them.
Is it at all possible that you could get the rights of the larry games? and if it was would you make larry 8 or the elusive 4?
thanks a lot,
Michael Sunich
I am a huge fan of the Leisure Suit Larry series, I have all seven or six because of part 4 and I was wondering why Leisure Suit Larry 8 isn’t in stores yet. I read on a page that Sierra stopped the production of part 8, and I was wondering if it was true, and if so why? I’m sure your probably sick of recieving this kind of e-mail, but please respond.
P.S. Whats the deal with part 4 anyway?
From a huge fan

Hi! My name is Wagner from Brazil. I’m glad for finding you URL. It’s a great oportunit to talk to you, because of Leisure Suit Larry... I just can say that I played “LSL 7: Love for sail”, and I simply loved it!
That’s unfair.
Well, I think it's all I had to tell... Please, I hope you read it...
Thank you very much, sorry for my poor english
Wagner
Hi, Al!
I’ve played most of all Sierra-Adventures and I always was a fan of Larry. (I have played all Parts of Larry, including Larry2 and Larry3 in “Textmode” and I really enjoind it) I’m very sorry that Sierra won’t produce more adventures in future.
Do you think, that the classic adventure is dieing?
Do you think, that there will be further parts of Larry or Gabriel Knight ?
I want to thank you for your games!!!
Your fan,
Fredy
hi Mr. lowe

mark.legros
Hello,
I don't think you will read this personal - and if you do: "ahhh - I can't beleave he is reading my email!!!" *gg* I just want to know if there is any way you can get Larry back?
Can't we start a collection: "Safe Larry from the basement of Sierra"? - there should be millions of fans and from my point of view: "i didn't buy larry before it was in some sort of collection because I had no money at the time, but now I could buy it and would pay twice for it!)
Can't you just respawn and rename him? "Barry" for example? (...and i write a tool to rename him back *gg*)
I think it is really sad because Larry 1 (the original) was the first english adventure game i played through. It was hard for me, because I am not native english speaker - I've grown up in germany and I was just 12 years old (yes I know I shouldn't have played the game but for my excuse: it helped to develope my english - apart from the dirty part). It was hard to get through the 'knowledge' part (why did noone tell me, that there is a cheat?) and sometimes it took me half an hour to get in. By the way: was there ever an uncensored version??? (I don't want to see Larry nacked - Larry 7 was close enough, I am just curious)
So if there is a "Larry 8" or "Barry 1" I will belong to the first buyers!
And if you need an additional programmer: I know Basic, Perl, Java and Assembler a bit; C++ and Pascal very well; I know how to program for DirectDraw (ok, to be honest just some basics) and if you want to have a linux version: I am just about to learn everything about programming for linux...
I hope you will really answer my mail,
Chris
The Leisure Suit Larry games are pretty damn good. People want another lsl. If you look all of the games so far have gotten really good responses from the public. So why not release another game, I feel that in this day and age it would be a lot more accepted and in turn actually generate a higher amount of sales. These games have created almost a cult following of sorts. So please consider making a Leisure Suit Larry 8. Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Jason M.
Hi, Al Lowe,
I’m a Chinese guy, I like your Leisure Suit Larry series so much, I named my English name as Larry, and I even asked my friend bought me your ‘Leisure Larry Collection’ from Singapore.
I’m now in Virginia for business purpose. Previously I intent to find some games like Larry series in the states, but after a month of searching I felt very disappointed, nothing is better than the larry games. It’s a big regret for me that Larry 8 plan was cancelled by Sierra On-line, but I and many Chinese larry fans still hope that Larry can bob up like a cork in his next generation or another game.
Keep on your effort, we love U!
Larry Chen
I will always be a big fan of yours for how you made me laugh when I played the Leisure Suit Larry series. I know you are not planning to make another LSL, but are you currently working on making another computer game? As for those bums at Sierra, how dare they fire a creative, funny genius like you! I know this occurred a while back, but it still makes me angry because I think the 3D Leisure Suit Larry 8 would have been a great game. Well, take it easy and I hope you are successful at whatever current venture you are working on.
Sincerely Yours,
Andrew Bocek
Al, You're the man... it's in large part because of you that I'm sitting here in a University of Connecticut dorm room building circuits and reading a huge book of Programming Windows with MFC by Jeff Prosise for fun... Thank you so much for making all the Larry games and providing countless hours of wonderful computer enjoyment for me as a kid. You rock.
Raymond Barbiero
Al,
For me, leisure suit larry is the greatest fun games I'd ever played up to now, these games gave me so many humors after my boring work. I'm so sad to know that Larry 8 is cancelled and the hero is disappeared after his love sailing.
I liked the scenario and humor in Larry II and Larry III even though they are in 320x200 resolution, from my view, they are better than high-resolution games in the year 2000. So I keep the "Leisure Suit Larry Collection" in my home as treasure.
I will back to China at Mar. 30, and will access your humor website from time to time. Please tell me when you get a chance to Hangzhou -- a beautiful city in China, and keep us posted when Larry Laffer wake up and begin wander around!
Have a nice day,
Larry
You are the new comic genius of America :)
Your biggest fan,

I was poking around your website today and got a few of the themes from various Larry games when I noticed something that caught my attention. Freddy Pharkas in Larry 7. Which got the gears cranking. Did you ever have plans for a sequel to Freddy Pharkas? I mean playing the game left it more than wide open for a sequel so I’m just wondering if you had ever started work on ideas or anything for that. If so please share what you can. I absolutely loved that game....er...I mean....I love ALL your games Al (smiling big). Yeah that’s the ticket.
Thanks man,
see ya
I've stumbled onto your website via another website and was thrilled to see that you are doing well and still communicating with the public! I know it's weird but one of the first computer games that I ever played was the first Leisure Suit Larry game. I remember my cousins sneeking on to play while my and their parents left for just an hour. We got such a huge laugh out of the game! I been a musician on clarinet and also tenor sax and have learned the Larry theme by heart a long long time ago. I play it everytime I warm up for practice or band. Now I've grown up and have had a huge Sierra following! I love computer games and have dreamed of working for Sierra. I am attending College as a Commercial Graphics major. I am curious of what you would recommend that I do to become a game designer. And am curious at what you have done in your life and what you are doing now. I'm so excited to even have the opportunity to contact you directly via e-mail. I would love to hear from you soon!

Dear Al Lowe,
You have probably heard this all before and I dont say I’d blame you for not responding to this. With regards to the leisure suit larry 8 game: Why did Sierra decide to stop making the game? There is just no reason why to. If it is because of budgeting reasons then that is total rubbish. Leisure Suit Larry has been around for a long time and again you probably have heared this all before, but as I say, I grew up with it. I can remember when I had a party at my house and a friend of my fathers brought this single floppy disc around to the house. straight away, once the game had been installed and also after having to answer those questions (later realizing that Ctrl Z skips it, hehe) is when my passion for the game began.
It has struck so many people of the news to scrap the game. Come on Al, sort it out. PLEASE.
On a serious note. If sierra have no plans to even reconsider this world-wide disapointment, I would be serious in buying the rights to continue this project.
I am very disapointed and so is many other people worldwide. I having spoke to many people on the net they have told me that Larry was one of three games that have got so attached to them.
On a nasty note KEN WILLIAMS can stick it. I have had enough of Sierra. They have disapointed to many people. Whilst on the same subject it is the same with police quest. A great game was turned into SWAT (What a waist of time) it has tranformed the whole bloody game. Nah sierra suck. AL, take your yourself to another software company - youve got to much talent.
Take care
Gareth

My name is Gregory Davidson. I am deaf. I am glad that all of your games are closed caption enable.
Anyway, I like to play your style, your taste of your games. Of course, I am disappointed that the Sierra does not want another story of Leisure Suit Larry. How do I ask the Sierra to make another Leisure Suit Larry?
Second: How do I play Leisure Suit Larry 3 on my super-fast computer? Well, one thing, you know the dancing girl, how can she dance that long? Well, second thing, excercing, on up and down key, is way pumped for a person. I enjoy the games. Great Art. Hey, a man's trash is another man's art.
Take care...
I am from Montreal, Canada. I really enjoyed playing the Larry adventure game series. I still enjoy them, they are timeless. I never get bored with the games.
Best regards!
Christopher Bseilis
How are you doing? I just wanted to thank you! You made the best game ever, and believe it or not, I STILL play LSL all the time. The original EGA is the best!
I was wondering why you gave up on LSL8? And thanks for the Larry Theme i listen to it all the time! I also edited LSL 1 EGA and 2’s graphics a little and I was wondering if I could send it to you to check? I want to make my own AGI and SCI game, I have the utilities but I want someone to see if I’m good on my animations. It’s awesome to be talking to you right now! One more thing, did you make the graphics in Larry, And how old are you? I’m 14. Well see ya later! Please write back.
Your Fan,
JUSTIN
I have enjoyed the games and I greatly hope that Larry will somehow continue, thanks for the fun and the laughs. Thanks,
Chuck Marshall
I am a fan of Larry... Where can I send an email to declare for Leisure Suit Larry 8 creation?
If you work with an other company for a new character... new scenarios... new everything... wouldn't be great? For example... instead of Larry create a female character... so Sierra won't be able to stop you... They have the rights for Larry... not for a female character...
Thank you for hearing me...
Sincerely Yours

Hello Mr. Lowe.
I´m writing you from Germany because i´m very sad. I want to tell you that i´m a great fan of your Larry Laffer. So i can´t wait till the 8th part will be in the shops. I wrote to Sierra and i was very surprised when they told me that they won´t develop the game any more. I AM SHOCKED. WHAT IS GOING ON ???
Marcus Muller
Let me thank you all, for the great entertainment you provided my in my childhood.
Also, let me ask that this message be forwarded to Mr. Ken Williams and/or any other designer that helped give a name for Sierra (like Al Lowe, Roberta Williams, Mark Crowe, Scott Murpht, the Coles, Jim Walls, etc.).
My name is Ricardo Mesquita, I am from Portugal. I am now 24 years old and I just finished my graduation on Corporate Management, so I don't spend a quarter of the time I used to spend playing games when I was in my early tens , I still miss that time.
I loved every Sierra adventure. There was something in those early adventures (the ones using the SCI and the AGI interpreters) that do not exist nowadays.
Although I had about a year and a half of english classes when I started playing my first Sierra adventure (Police Quest I), there was a lot of stuff I didn't know, and Sierra did help me develop my english... a LOT!
Off course I am now writing this e-mail on a PC, but at that time, I owned the best computer anyone could have to play computer games... a Commodore Amiga.
So, as you probably know, Sierra games were something most Amiga users where not really motivated to get into, because the PC to Amiga conversion of your games did not take full advantage of Amiga's graphic and sound capabilities.
Still, there were not much games that provided me with as much fun as any Sierra title. (well... okay, to be honest I also like Lucasarts adventures... but I really prefered typing, dying, and forgetting to pick up objects need further on in the adventure which implies, restoring or even restarting! lol).
Another little problem with having a Amiga was that Sierra's adventures did take a little longer to be released on the Amiga, due to conversion time (right?), so I often suffered from anciety when I knew that a new Leisure Suit Larry computer game had been released on the PC, but not on the Amiga.
And then, came the new 256 colors adventures... that took even more time to be converted to Amiga and looked worse than the PC versions. I did buy a couple of Amiga versions of those new generation Sierra games, the last being "Robin Hood: Conquests of The Longbow", which sadly, required a hard disk to play, something that was not very common among most Amiga users, so... well, I never got to play.
And then a time came when Sierra stopped converting the adventures to Amiga... I can't still remember, watching Quest For Glory 3: Wages of War (its original name) on a friend's PC and thinking: "wow... what an excelent game... sniff... and I'm never gonna play it!".
So, guess what? I sold my Amiga and bought a PC! Yes, changed tons of excellent action games for a few but marvellous, divine, state-of-the-art, adventure games (anyway, about a year later, computer gaming industry progressively turn their attention to the emerging PC market and the Amiga was left behind, partly due to the absentism of technological development on behalf of Commodore).
So, many more years of excelent adventure games came, Freddy Pharkas, King's Quest 5 & 6, Space Quests, Gabriel Knight (the best Sierra adventure), not forgetting of course the excellent Dynamix title Rise Of The Dragon. I was again, thrilled by playing such games (again, along with Lucasarts adventures), even though the feel was not quite the same as the early "typing required" adventures.
Oh, yeah, whatever happened to Jim Walls??? Those Police Quests from 4 to Swats really sucked! Now, the Sonny Bonds trilogy... those were excellent games!
And then, very recently came the excellent Quest For Glory 5, which I think was about to be cancelled, right? Anyway, this came out an excellent piece of work which sadly should have been better supported by Sierra, but wasn't. Still, an excelent game.
I also loved Gabriel Knight 3. It's incredible how its team could create a full 3D adventure game and make it feel exactly like the first Gabriel Knight. I also like Gabriel Knight 2, specially for the story, even though I didn't really loved adventure games in full-motion-video, it takes a lot of the magic away.
Now... today, Sierra's new management disapointed every fan of its early computer games. With the best designers forced to leave the company due to its new approach to the computer gaming market, Sierra is now focusing on developing stupid games, stupid series that are nothing but crap for people to play from time to time.
With the exception of a few titles like Half-Life, Sierra's (should we even call it that???) most new titles look more like low budget games than anything else... I mean, Hoyle 2000, Hoyle 2001, Hoyle 2002... Pinball This, Pinball That, Pinball All The Way... oh well.
It's sad that the "new" Sierra could not take it on to the future. Of course they couldn't keep up against competition in the gaming industry by developing AGI games, or by releasing a Leisure Suit Larry every year, but they could release a new sequel every now and then, or develop new adventures using for example the engine of Gabriel Knight 3. But no, they prefer to release titles that stink.
And those early series made Sierra what it is today... or rather, what it is not. Anyway, those games did make a name for Sierra.
So, my question is, why doesn't Sierra release low budget adventures that most fans of early games would surely buy instead of stupid low budget titles like Hoyles, 3D Ultra's, and Pinballs? I mean, would it take so much time nowadays to write a new story for Leisure Suit Larry and create a new game using the Sierra's Creative Interpreter? That could probably be done for a "fistful of dollars" and I bet it would sell enough to make it profitable.
Maybe it won't even be necessary to use Hi-Res graphics, maybe 16 color graphics would be enough. I know that I would be willing to spend $15 or even more in a new Sierra adventure that used the SCI, a typing interface and the PC Internal Speaker for audio, or even a AGI Sierra game. And like me, how many other would?
Along with a good, but not very expensive marketing campaign and a little publicity on magazines (not only computer games magazines but any magazine where a possible player of old Sierra games could eventually read), I think these low-budget titles would probably be set for a commercial success.
Of course, this would probably not be enough for a computer game developer to survive, but couldn't Al Lowe for instance work for a month in new a Leisure Suit Larry story, and with the help of someone create a all new adventure for the most sympathetic not-so-playboy character in the world? What about Roger Wilco? King Graham? (by the way, I really couldn't play KQ8... it had nothing to do with the other King's Quests... probably due to Sierra's pressure and influence on the design and develop of the game, right?).
So, could an idea like this be profitable? Developing excelent adventures with not so good graphics and audio and sell them at a very low price? I know I would rather buy 4 games like these for $15 each than a King's Quest 8 or Half-Life, or any other game, for $60!
And what if Sierra wouldn't be interested in an idea like this? Well, they sure don't seem to care for their old character anymore, right? So, why not create a new team, a new company (like Transolar from the Coles), re-unite but a few past game designers of early Sierra games (Al Lowe, Jim Walls, Scott Murphy, Mark Crowe, Ken Williams, Roberta Williams, Corey Cole, Anne Cole, anyone available), try to negociate with Sierra and buy the rights of such computer games and release a low budget adventure game from time to time???
Just a final word, you know what game I am playing right not? OK, I'm playing "Space Quest (2,5) The Lost Chapter". A new game that a single SQ fan created based on a story of his own and the Sierra's AGI interpreter. And I'm loving it!
So, is this not a good idea? Could this not be possible? I think that carefully planned this could turn out to be e relative commercial success, and at a low-cost of production too. Also, I know for sure that many, many Sierra fans around the world would be willing to help in the development of these games and, most certain, for free! Well, I know I would.
Yours truly,
Ricardo Mesquita (a HUGE fan!)
(PS: Like Larry Laffer would say "I don't know much about art, but I know what I like!")
Hi, Al!
Hard to believe it’s already been so long since the shake-up at Sierra. I’ve been a semi-regular visitor to your website ever since I first found out about it - and I’m a big fan of what you’ve done with the place. Definitely one of the better sites out there, for pure entertainment value. Also, kudos for putting some of your old games up for download. I actually haven’t played a couple of those, so I’m looking forward to trying them out! The Underdogs is another great site. I’m sure they appreciate the mention. Anyway, I was going through 2 ½ years of saved email this morning, and I came across a couple of joke emails that I’d saved. Normally I toss joke emails almost right away, but these are a few that tickled me a bit. Maybe they’ll entertain you as well. I compiled them into one text file, which I'll attach.
But first, a bit of praise: Thanks for all the years of great games. I was a lucky kid. I’m pretty young - born in 1979 - but my parents actually let me have my way with our first computer (a Tandy CoCo, as I recall - there may have been something before that, but I was definitely too young to be able to remember), when I was just barely old enough to read or type. The real life-defining experience came a bit later though - one day, my dad brough home a new Tandy 1000, and a copy of King’s Quest. I can still vividly remember my first time playing that game. I was still too young to know how to properly play an adventure game, of course. But it was incdredibly amazing to me, to be able to walk this little man around a huge world, filled with colorful graphics, birds that actually chirped, and whatnot. And from then on, we purchased each and every new Sierra game, immediately after release. In fact, just about the only bona fide “family time” I can remember ever having, was provided by Sierra games. For that, I’m eternally grateful.
I discovered the Larry series a bit late - my parents were ultra-conservative and ultra-religious when I was younger, so I didn’t play through the series until I was 16 or 17. I believe I played Larry 2 (it may have been 3) at a friend’s house, and then I just had to go out and buy the collection (at that time, it was 1-6). By the time I was finished with those, Larry 7 was out. And I have to tell you, I think that the Larry series improved the most out of any staple Sierra series as time went by. I’ll probably always remember King’s Quest IV, Space Quest III, Police Quest I, and Quest For Glory II as the best from their lines, but I really think that Larry 7 is the best of the Larry games. No computer game has ever made me laugh so hard.
Which is why Larry 8 is one of the future games that I’m hoping for the most. The major companies will turn around eventually. Everybody wants to be told a story, and I have to believe that most of those people are still interested in the idea of a story where they can affect the outcome. Hopefully when the genre is back in vogue, you’ll still feel like being a contributor. :)
Anyway, here are some jokes. Hope you enjoy them!

I’m a big fan, of both you and Larry. Bum wrap about Sierra and all that. Though with any good fortune, and the gods’ undivided attention, maybe something good will happen. Anyway, I just wanted to say hi, and thanks for all the polyester, and the laughs.
Your fan,
Rick
My name is Badrisham and I'm from Malaysia. (Ever heard of this country?) I had so much fun playing LSL7. It took me 2 months to get through the whole game.
BTW, what is the status of LSL8. Is Sierra still keeping it in the cold storage. Can't you get back the LSL rights and continue developing it?
Regards
Badrisham Yahya
Although I am more of a Space Quest-enthusiast (sorry), I just wanted to let you know that I have always enjoyed playing your Leisure Suit Larry games, and they still make me laugh. It were the (now classic) Sierra games that got me interested in computers and programming, and I still am.
You must get tons of mail like this one everyday, but when I came across your site I just felt like writing you an email.
I hope that Sierra will reconsider (in the near future) and let you make part 8.
All the best to you,
Barry Harmsen / Amsterdam, Holland
Firstly, I must be the greatest fan of Leisure Suit Larry since, well, since you. I own a copy of each and every Larry game and thouroughly enjoy them! I am not sure if the rumours are true, but I was horrified to hear rumors that there is not going to be a Larry 8! Could you be so kind as to tell me why not???
By the way, what became of Patty in Larry 6 and 7?
Thank You
Louis Du Preez
Dear Mr. Lowe,
I am a dedicated fan of the Larry series, mainly for two reasons: your fantastic sense of humor (I trust that sucking up will prompt a quick response?), and the killer music featured in the games. Since I bought "The Official Book of Leisure Suit Larry" and read of your career as a jazz musician, I've been very curious as to your favorite artists and musical influences, so could you please shed some light on this for me?
Much respect and gratitude,
Roach
Dear Al!
I am a great fan of all your games, heh, I like those AGI most. I have a question. I'm sure you get it x times a day, but anyway. Now I'd like to know the real story of LSL4 - The lost disks. Was it just for fun, or there had to be a 4th part, or whatever. The thing is that I have read a lot of interviews with You about that case, but thought that only You can answer this question. Yeah, it's dum, but hey, give me that pleasure and answer! I'm gonna print this e-mail out and hand it above my bed :] Oh, and, are there any OLD tools like lsl utilities? like AGI SDK or something?
Yours,
LoneSheep.
PLZ allowe WE have to do something about LARRY .. we have to bring him BACK...its the kiffest GAMe EVER .. I like the Larry 1 remake....plz man..LARRY kicks

I know you are probably getting tired of answering so many questions about the king of computer games and your greatestion creation ( atleast in my eyes) Larry, espicially sence you have your own sight, so it has probbaly already been answered, but anyway here goes. I know about how Sierra is screwin you as well as the rest of us Larry fans by canceling the production of Larry 8, but I was just wondering if you still ever like ask Sierra or if Sierra said if they would let you know if you can continue producing Leisure Suit Larry games. Espicially, if Sierra is still making mucho bucks selling a bundle of all of the games. I didn't know if you would post it on your web page letting us know if Larry was officially back or not. So anyways thanx for your time
Sincerely, Just another fan,
Matthew
First I want to thank you very much for the many pleasurable hours you gave me while playing your games!!!
Around 1988 I met with the 'Black Cauldron' on an Atari ST. And it was a unique experience (in black and white). I really loved Taran and his world. Now my Atari has gone and I am enjoying a macintosh computer. But I would like to revisit the Black Cauldron.
Could you tell me whether a macintosh version of this game was ever made?
An alternative is to play the PC version using an emulation like Virtual PC (version 3 with Windows98). But when I try to do this (using your download) I only see the upper left part of the original screen in fairly gross shapes and colors. Can you recommend a remedy (perhaps it has something to do with the resolution...)?
Thank you very much. kind regards,

During all these years it's been a real pleasure for me to play leisure suit larry games. But I believe that now it's more plaesurable to have the honor of sending an e-mail to the producer of these games.
I wonder if you'd be kind enough to send me a picture of yourself. I'm also curious to know what you do in your real life. I mean do you live in your real life as larry or is it just an imitation in a game?
Thank you very much for your kind reply.
Yours Truly,
M. Tavakkoli.
P.S. I believe that my second request is somehow interfering with your personal life.So I wouldn't mind if you'r answer would be:"It's none of your business".
I heard that there might not be an LSL8. Can this be true??!!?!? I really love the Larry character and hoped to see him in many more adventures. <Sigh>
Hopefully this is just a bad dream.

Hello mr. Lowe, I'm a gig fan of you and your games. I'm a 16 year old boy from Norway. I first started to play Larry 1 when I was about 10 and have played almost every game you have made! I have even made some adventure games of my own. I'm working on a series of games based on the Leisure Suit Larry games right now.
I just wanted to tell you what I think of your games, and I wounder why you stop making them? I know you have dropped out of sierra, but that should not stop you from making more games...
Kim A. Larsen
I just want to say that for sure Leisure Suit Larry is the greatest game in its genre of all times. No other game has ever been so much fun for me. Great job!!!!! No matter that you can't continue the series, it matters that you have done something that will remain in history forever, a game that changed the quest-fun genre. Everyone will remember Larry - in all his liveliness.
Take care,

Good Evening Al,
I just came across your website. I wanted to thank you for the years of funs and enjoyment that Leisure Suit Larry has brought me and my friends. I can remember playing the original like it was yesterday.
Whatever your future holds I hope it is enjoyable, and I will cross my fingers that we see Larry again in number eight.
Take care
Larry
Being a big Leisure Suit Larry fan, I've always wondered what the deal was with LSL4. Did production ever start? DId it finish? Was it too sexy to be released? DId some moron loose the original disks? Did someone steal it? Since you no longer work for Sierra, you don't have to worry about divulging company secrets. Unless they're going to sue you or something. But don't worry- I won't tell anyone :o)
I was really upset to hear that Sierra cancelled production on Leisure Suit Larry 8. How far did the programmers get before the project was cancelled? Why was it cancelled?Do you think that Sierra will jump to LSL9 skipping 8 entirely as they did LSL4?
Anyhoo, I look forward to your response (If you give me one(I hope it isn't some automated generalized message))

Hey Al Lowe! I like u'r Larry games! But have also waited for very long for the next Larry game... When will Larry 8 be comming out?
Thanx
Eric Ko
Mr. Lowe, I completely enjoy the LSL series. When will LSL8 be appearing in stores? What other games are you working on? Thank you very much for good times. I'll be looking forward to getting Cyberjokes3000 in my mailbox.
Tammy
Al, Sounds like Sierra are just being wimps. People are forgetting what makes a good game. After a while, Sierra's "Half Life" series get seriously dry. It's about ENTERTAINMENT, not graphics and all that crap. People need alternative games like Larry. Look at "Conker's Bad Fur Day" - that just came out for the Nintendo64 and it costs £60!!! It's selling really fast too. There HAS to be a Leisure Suit Larry 8 after that little teaser at the end of "Love For Sail". I just hope Sierra get some sense, because everyone I know knows Larry, and Sierra seem to be turning their back on what made them who they are.
Could you tell me what's going on at the moment, if you have time to reply, thanks!
Nick Blackford
Hey Al,
I feel like I have the right to call you that being that you've been in my house for about ten years now (That whole putting yourself on the back of game boxes thing). I've read a lot of stuff about you, being into the whole online gameing thing before it was what it is, but mainly just stuff on Larry (No offense). Anyway for some reason I figure you'll give me the time of day on a game idea that will change the face of everything, and is completly within reach. To cut to the chase, I am a 3d Modler, in need of a programmer to get this thing off the ground. This is I know far fetched as hell but if your interested in what I have to say, you know my address. If not than..."Bring Larry back!"
Thanks

Thank u 4 keeping me entertained all these years with ur Lesuire Suit Larry collection,Freddy Pharkas,Torins Passage!!! R there any plans of making anymore followups 2 any of these games or r u working on any other adventure games??? PLEASE let me know!!!
Thanks again 4 everything,
Jinjer Jake
Hello Mr. Lowe,
Thanks so much for all the games you did over the years!! I real sorry Sierra stopped Larry 8, I hope you are enjoying whatever you are up to now and you will get to make Larry 8 if you want to. Geez that was really brillant of sierra to cancel Larry and Space Quest and all the games that put the company where it is so they could make Babylon 5 crap and some productivity stuff. What did you want Larry 8 to be like? Would it be like a cartoon, kinda like larry 7 or 3D like the new monkey island game?
Well sir hope all is good with you and you fam and thanks again for all the good memeories!!
Greg Stein
My name is Chris, I am 22 years old and I just have to say that your games were an important part of my growing up. Sure, when I was young I had no idea what most of the game was about but now I look back and laugh. So what are you up to now? I really miss the golden days of Sierra with those SCI/AGI games ... oh well.
Chris
Al,
Hello there. I just stumbled across an interview with you on themushroom.com. I played the original Leisure Suit Larry when I was eleven years old or so (my father helped with the quiz) and it caused me to stay indoors more than I should have and give up playing sports in favor of trying to design video games. So I just wanted to say thank you.
The other reason for this letter is that I thought you might enjoy a web site I wrote: www.stripcreator.com -- it requires Microsoft Internet Explorer 4 or greater. Most of the strips on it are pretty stupid (there are over 13,000 in the database and over 5,000 users -- it's pretty popular), but you can make your own little three panel comic strips with it, which apparently can be fun.
Anyhow, I hope you're well, muchos gracias, etc, etc.
Brad
Dear Al Lowe,
When the game of Leisure Suit Larry 8 will out ? I love to play this game!!! Thanks. Regards,
Murphy
Just wanted to say that Leisure Suit Larry 1 was the sole reason I bought my first PC. When I was in the Army many years ago, someone installed Larry on the office PC. I started playing it during lunch. Soon I was staying hours after work just to keep playing it. I finally had to buy a PC just so I could have enough time on the computer to finish the game. Now I work in the computer industry, so I guess it's all thanx to you (but I'm not sending you royalties). I have loved every Larry game you put out. Larry gave me countless hours of fun, and I just wanted to say thank you.

Al,
I just read your 20 questions with The Mushroom, which has made its way across the macintosh gamers sites, and after visiting your site www.allowe.com, felt like dropping you an email. (probably because your guest book was not up an running nowadays).
Anyway the reason for this email is simply to send you a big thank you. One of the best things I had on my computer when growing up was your game series leisure suit larry. It will always remain a classic. Computer games have had their ups and downs, and their different eras, but you are a true pioneer.
Childhood would not have been the same without your fun games coming out and there being that sick puzzle of figuring out how to play them. Thank you,

Hi,
First of all im a great fan of your work. I know you're probably busy and stuff but I have a very big question I have to ask you. In Leisure suit larry 3, when you are playing pationette patti and you're walking around the bamboo thicks and later on you get stuck into the cage along with Larry the soundtrack thats being played sounded really good. I dont know what the music was called but it was basically a piano solo. I hope you know what im talking about but I love this song and I think ive also heard this tune from the Short Circuit movie with Johnny 5, the robot after he gets beat up from the people making him steal the diamonds; the piano solo plays when he's all damaged and going around with a makeshift car battery to power him. Im wondering what the song is called or if im wrong that its not taken from somewhere else im wondering where I can obtain this song anywhere. Anyways, thanks for hearing me out.

Hi,
I am Hannes and I come from germany and I am "only" 15 years... I started playing Larry at the age of 12....you know I can buy this stuff (your game) without problems in Germany, we also can see boobs on TV etc.. At first I played Larry 6.. I find it so funny that I must buy the "Larry Collection" with all LSL games in one for only 50 DM or 25$...Larry 1-3 were in English...at this time I did not understand much..but it was funny (you can see you must not speak English to understand what Al Lowe want to say you with his games.) But last year I had read in an game magazine "Das aus für Al Lowes Möchtegernheld" (it means no more Larry). I have asked myself...why must those people ever stop the best games (Indiana Jones...LSL) I can't understand it. but to the good things in life I have found all secret jokes in LSL7 and get 1000 points you know..what I mean..the "f**king" good ending.
I have not given up hope yet that LSL will restart and you will come back as the world greatest, famous, nicest, happiest and strongest Game designer in the World
Cu Hannes
Thanks so much again for all the great games and being a genius! I got the Leisure Suit Larry collection as one of the first games for the 486 when I had that years ago, there is nothing coming out today that can compare to Larry, Freddy Pharkas, and all those great games. It sure would be great to see some old use bucket of lard on the piston gameplay again, sniff sniff. I will sign up for your joke e-mail thanks! I sure hope that some wise publisher will see an Al Lowe game would be a critical and finanicial sucess! about Larry 8, what a shame the plug got pulled, the little sample is great! Sir would you mind if I asked some fan boy like questions? Freddy Pharkas was great! Did you ever hope to make a sequel? What happened to that Capitol Punishment game? And have you thought about the the type of girls larry would pursue in space? Hehe we were wondering would he be going after aliens or some speices of Space Amazon or some wackiness like this. I hope your retirement (temporay I hope! :) and the family and all is doing well.
Take Care,
Greg
Dear Al,
I have been finally able to purchase a pc after being on my own for a few years. In the 80's one of my favorite pastimes was playing Leisure Suit Larry with my friends. When I purchased my computer the first thing I bought was LSL 1-6 and was reunited. I still am waiting till I have the money to get #7. I am a programming major and recently bought a game programming starter kit. I read a segment on you and your creation of Larry. I have recently logged on to your web site to find all the sad news and I am very sorry. Larry is an inspiration to me and what I think of on computers in general. Together you two are part of my computer fetish. My wife thinks I'm crazy. I wish Sierra knew how many people are willing and waiting for another Larry. Is there anything we can sign to petition it? Thank you for your great work and if you ever need a programmer I'd put my heart and soul into the the production of another if your interested. I'll keep e-mailing Sierra until they will either give up the rights or decide to make another. Thanks for everything!
Erik Rasmussen
Dear Mr. Al lowe
What is going on with larry 8? are you make it becaue I love playing larry 7. it was a great puzzle game. I hope that you can make larry 8 come out ASAP. I love playing larry games.
Jeb
Over the past umpteen years I have purchased damn near every game that Sierra put out when they were Sierra only. I have also purchased many of their games that were affiliated with the Dynamics group.
I have ALL of the Leisure Suit Larry games including 4 which Sierra seems to have orphaned and refuses to acknowledge the existence of except to joke about it on their site and refer to it as the missing Larry. (I know it's just a utility program with fax cover sheets, memo pads, etc. but it is still a must if you are actually collecting these things.)
Happy computing,
Jim Miley, Jr.
Hi Al, in the first place, excuses because not to be spoken English well and it can that to it you do not understand everything. I am a Spanish boy (Canary Islands) 21 years old and since 14 or 15 years I follow all the adventures of Larry, they have all to me and I have smiled myself much with them. For that reason, I thank you very much, the Lowe, for those moments so amused and of laughter that you have made me happen and from my humility all my support for what is ahead. Soar with a new adventure of Larry Laffer, hehe, ;-)
Thank you very much, Al Lowe
I have a few questions for you. Are you continuing your music career? What does an ex-Sierra employee do in his free time? Are you going to make any more games of any genre of any company? What brand of toilet paper do you buy? I'm a very curious person...
I still don't realize why LSL8 was canceled. I mean, even brainless people... erm... FPS fans (same thing) like the Larry games. Is Sierra worried about poor sales? The day that a product with sexual content and hilarious comedy doesn't sell, is the day of Armageddon... I hope we haven't seen the last of Larry Laffer...
I just joined your joke mailing list :)

A few years back I was fortunate enough to play Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards. I heard for other versions that followed, but had no pc at home at the time. Finally!!!! I got my long awaited for pc and started looking for Larry...... but surprises surprise!!!!!!! larry was nowhere to be found!!!!! I asked at retail stores to look for any old forgotten copies...... but nothing...!!!!
Finally, I looked in the web, where I found him in many sites, but!!! they are all cancelled!!!!!!
Help! how can I get Larry? from where? contacting Sierra I imagine would not be much help......
I would appreciate to have some feedback from you, on the best game ever created
regards
Peppy
Dear Al,
Thanks so much for all the laughs and inspiration! Your games were not just fun to play, but equally as fun to reverse engineer. :-)
Your site doesn't mention what you're doing now, so I wish you well in whatever you're up to these days. I hope you're retired on the wealth that LSL brought you.
Best regards,

I am so upset about the way Sierra has murdered Larry that I have written to the company to let them know that I will no longer be a customer of theirs. They suck! Maybe you can name it something a little different, purchase the rights and produce it yourself? Any chance of that? I'm dying for a new Larry game. They are so silly and fun!
Dear sir,
It's a pleasure to type out a mail to you, I'm one of the hardcore (doesn't mean addicted towards his porno) fans. It's been a REAL long time since we saw our hero back. We are desperately waitin for the new version of Larry (if at all you are going to release one soon).
I've purchased all the versions of it right from 1 to 7 (the 4th release was AWESOME *grin*)
Hoping to get a positive reply from you soon and waiting desporately for a new release of Larry

Al,
Just wanted to congratulate you on a beaut site your true humour shows through all of it!! Well done I have been a fan for years, Just a question while im writing this those downloads for the fat city workout. It says something about a missing intepreter and cannot be restored. Do you know if they actually do work? If so any ideas why mine doesn't?
Regards
Marc Ralph
Al,
First off I want to tell you how much of a huge fan I am of yours! I have never written email to anyone I'm a fan of before, so consider yourself special! Secondly, I love the LSL games, especially your work of art "Love for Sail!". My favorite is the comedian robotic Bill Clinton! That was an awesome addition to the game, and reminded me of "Paul Paul" the comedian from LSL3. I have one question if you have time to answer: In one of the robotic Bill Clinton jokes he says "What do you get when you cross an onion and a donkey? Most of the time you'll get an onion with really long ears. But every once in awhile, you'll get an ass that'll bring tears to your eyes! If you see one...call me...on the hotline!!" Although this joke makes me laugh everytime...I don't get the punchline!! Could you please explain it to me! Thanks a lot for taking the time to read. You are by far to me the best gaming programmer and writer out there!
Your Fan,
Mike Rodriguez
P.S. Sierra are being big jerks for not letting you do LSL8!! :)
Al, my name is Rolando (Roli to make it short), I´m from Argentina and y am a big fan of Larry, he is my favourite videogame character, but I also played other games of yours, like Freddy Pharkas and Police Quest (I know that on this last you only participate as a programmer), but you co-create (in a way) Sierra, my favourite company. Well, I just want to say that y feel bad about LSL8, but y know that one day Larry will strike back (how can you not love this guy!?), well, y will send you some jokes of the Argentinian style on your website, y will be the happiest kid in the country if you answer my mail. Good luck and God bless you, man. Bye
Rolando
Greetings,
First off: I´m a great fan of Larry (who isn´t?) since I first saw Larry I (AGI). Second, does this eMail really reach Al Lowe personally? I mean, there have to be hundreds of eMails every day, so I wouldn´t be surprised if there is some staff behind this selecting what is allowed to move on.
Now to the real reason for this eMail: I´ve got a question concerning the desing of Larry. In the first version, the good old AGI, Larry looked like a real, normal human (altough on the package he already looked like in newer games), but then in later sequels his appearance changed. Now I am wondering - was this look the original thought (meaning that the old AGI/SGI just weren´t able to reproduce it) or did he really change with time (as other 'Heroes' like Roger Wilco from Space Quest)? And if he got a new design over the years - WHY? As for me, I don´t think that it has done any good - he was supposed to be a loser because of what he does, not how he looks (at least thats my impression).
Well, I think I´ve wasted enough time of whoever read this (Mr. Lowe?), so I close this with thanks for reading, would apreciate a reply.
Sincerely,
Pichlmann Christohp
Hello, dear mr. Al Lowe!!!
My respect to you very big. My name is SWin (Michael) and I live in Russia. I'm 16. I think that Larry - it's a classical game of quest genre. And source of its classic was you! And I know that you read this letter now, so I can proud that you read my letter. This is very big honour for me.
I wanna ask you something. May be its stupid question for YOU. I saw versions 1, 5, 6, 7 and Casino, except 2, 3. May be you know, how I can download it for free?
Also I heard that work on the 8 version was stopped. It's right?
Also I wanna know something information about you. What you age? Does you working in Sierra? What you doing now (in the sence of programming)? On your site I cannot find this info.
You have world famous and its true, 'cause I know that all computer players in our country (though I'm programmer) will remember your game forever.
PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE! Answer me, please. You can don't answer on my questions but please send me e-mail. It be for me as autograph.
With respect, SWin.
During the last years I have been wondering where the h. was Larry, and a few days ago I found your website and read the whole story about it.
This mail just pretend to thank you for the many (and many, I swear you) hours I spent playing the larry´s games.
It´s incredible what sierra did ( in spanish we say a big <<PUTADA>>), but you will always have my support for whatever you need.
THANKS AGAIN.
Sincerely yours,
Gerardo March.
Palma de Mallorca. SPAIN.
I'm glad to hear you're doing ok, and I'm sorry to hear about the whole thing with sierra (though I'm sure you've heard that plenty). Just wanted to let you know how much I love the larry games (and the theme music), and I'm sure that if you do ever get the opportunity to work on an 8th installment, it'll be as hilarious and enjoyable as the rest. If not, all in the same, they are still my favorite adventure games of all time, surpassing even the excellent monke
