Hello Al!

I just found your WebSite and wanted to send my greetings to you. I´m a Fan from Germany (that excuses the bad spelling G) and I enjoyed your first and seventh part of Larry. I was about 10 or 12 years when I played the first part and really liked those questions at the begining. (My English was to bad at this point of time to really understand the game but I liked the naked women on the picture in Lefty´s Bar) >8-] By the way, I met you on your Promo-Tour in Hannover. (Still have your Autograph on the Box)

Benjamin >8-]

Thanks for all the Larry games; my wife and I had a lot of fun playing them (quality time spent together). Is there any chance of “Lust in Space” getting marketed? Again, thanks!!

Rob & Linda

So is there going to be a Leisure Suit Larry movie in the near future? Or at least a cartoon show on tv like South Park? I’ll pray that day will come. And I’ll pray that Larry 8 will be in my hand in the near future. I’m really sad and shock after hearing what happened to you and your colleages. The first time I was hooked up to the computer world was 10 years ago. And that was the first time I played an adventure game called Leisure Suit Larry. Even though my english was really bad at that time (I forgot to tell you that I’m from Indonesia), but I understand the jokes in the game. And hey, thanks to “Larry” I learned a lot of english vocabulary (good and bad, he. . he. . ) and also I learned how to type fast with one finger (super fast I might say). After that I started playing games like King’s Quest, Space Quest and Police Quest. Until now most of my computer games are adventures games and all of them are from Sierra (except few from Lucasart). I still have the 5 ¼” disk version of those games. I finished all those games except for one: Codename:Iceman (I think one of the disk was infected by virus). Anyway, with Sierra cancelled all the adventure games genre I don’t know if I can live in this world anymore. It means there are not gonna be adventures games anymore. What will I play? I guess I will play all my old games all over again to remember the old days. So are you going to work with another gaming company? Make another adventure series like Larry? I will sure hope so. I wish you all the best in everything that you do. Hope to see your golden works again soon. . . see ya!

Hendrawan Barli

As a women gamer I get depressed when I shop for a new adventure game and all I can find are action or casino games. I cannot believe there is no market for adventure games without action or fighting involved. You know if some one marketed these games the way they do action games we wouldn’t be talking here today. I mean look at the sucess of Larry and he basically was marketed by word of mouth. Obviously he’s popular or Sierra wouldn’t have come out with a casino game dedicated to him. Give me my 2D cartoon comedy adventure any day over a shootem up game. In light of what is going on in the world - children killing children, worlds at war, and no show parents, isn’t time to bring back a genre that encouraged you to use you wits not your fists????!!!!

Darcy Biggicaoleksiak

Sorry to hear that you’re no longer at Sierras. You should know that I really love you’re work, been a fan since the eighties. If you decide to do some work on you’re own, we are at least a bunch of five that would be very happy. We’re having small “conventions” every quarter of the year where we play the LSL series and laugh our heads off.

Keep up the work,

Fredrik Axelsson

I am one of the millions of other fans who appreciate what you have given the gaming world and have been wondering for the last couple of years. . . will there ever be another Larry game? I live in India and Larry infected me and all of my friends. I am the proud owner of all the Larry games as are my friends. We are just dying to know about your next project. Those bastards at Sierra probably have the rights to Larry, but you have to make them pay for it. MAKE THEM PAY!

I bid you best wishes and the best of luck for the future.

A proud Al Lowe fan,

Akshay Chowdhry

I understand your company is under the impression that the “Quest” and LSL series won’t make you enough of the almighty dollar. If this is true, let their creators continue the work that they’ve started. If you are so convinced that no one wants adventure games any more, why won’t you release the rights to the people who care about making adventure games? I have bought every Sierra adventure game made, stayed up way too many nights, and can even quote most of the games(even Freddy Pharkas-“oh my god, I shot my dang foot off”) and still laugh years later. I have even replayed several of these games.

I cannot believe that you are discontinuing these games. And what are you replacing it with????? A frigging bull riding simulator. . . are you high? Where is the market for THAT??????? Who is the market “anal”ist who thought that one up? As Larry would say DOH!!!

SAVE LARRY, MY KINGS AND PRINCES, ROGER WILCO, AND LOOOOOONG LIVE FREDDY!! YEAAH BABY!!

IF you insist on doing this, I will NEVER buy another Sierra product again (and neither will my mother, my sister, my cousin, or my 10 friends who used to like you, too).

Susan I Whipple

We want Leisure Suit Larry 8. Al Lowe has once created one of the most hilarious computer game character and it can not be killed now, not yet. Killing Leisure Suit Larry now will not make Sierra win but lose. Not letting Al Lowe continue creating new and better adventures of Leisure Larry 8 is not fair and getting on nerves of millions of LSL fans. As a dedicated fan, I am about to start up a campaign against Sierra here in Turkey. I will personally call and mail all the Gaming and PC Magazines in the country to start up a big campaign against Sierra. This is not a threat but a stand up for our rights as Leisure Larry Fans. Larry Laffer is too young to die. . . Thanks for your attention

Ugur Özokur

Please make another Larry! It’s the only game that get my kid sister to shut up! (I mean this in a good way. ) She and I love the humor, the difficult puzzle’s and the satisfaction when we eventually solve it! It’s great for our English too!

Taco Heuts (Netherlands)

To whom it may concern,

Let this serve as yet, another vote to continue the “Leisure Suit Larry” series of games. I fully intend to purchase the LSL8 when it is released.

Regards,

Sam Subler

Make LSL 8 pleaseeeeeeeee!!!!! If you do I’ll buy it and get all my friends to buy it!!!!!!!!!

We love you!

Hello,

I played LSL 7. 0 this weekend and had a blast. This is the first LSL that I have played and was hoping that I could purchase a version 8. 0. I found some information that suggests that Sierra has shut down the production of the LSL series. I hope this email is at least one more vote towards chaning that situation.

I have bought several other Sierra games mainly because my experience with the first Sierra game I purchased (Shivers) was such a great one. Since then, I have bought Shivers 2 and Lighthouse. I have every intention of buying more LSLs if they are produced.

Hope you can get back to making what is an inventive and unique gameplaying experience.

Sincerely,

Rusty Reed

I was very disappointed to learn that one of your company’s best series (LSL) was being discontinued. I have personally purchased all of the original six games, and I absolutely loved every one of them. I laughed so hard my stomach hurt while playing the various Larry games. I know of at least six other people that have bought and played all the Larry games, and loved them as much as I did. I feel that LSL7 was superb with its Easter eggs, and characters “celebrity-like” names. I have reinstalled a few of the games more than once so I could laugh at Larry’s mishaps again. I also greatly enjoyed the various games Larry had to win in order to finish the game. I can guarantee that I would purchase LSL8 as soon as it came out. I have played many of your company’s other games as well. PQ Swat 1 & 2, All the Space Quest games and Kings Quest 1 - 7. I still have the original version of King’s Quest that I played on my PCjr!! I hope you can find a way to continue your company’s fine tradition of games, and I hope that you can find a way to make LSL8. If Al Lowe needs some ideas, please tell him that I have a bunch of friends that would love to help him out. Thank you for taking the time to read this email.

Sincerely,

Joe Perrault

After I heard the news that Leisure Suit Larry 8 has been cancelled I’m heart broken. I not only represent myself but also my sister and one of my closest friends. We feel its tragic that Larry has to die so prematurely. We still wanna see his humour, the funny, clean cartoony style graphics and of course all the girls that he attempts get a score from.

Please don't let Larry die, he's such an adorable character. Please resurrect Larry.

Yours Sincerely

Hong, Li and Martin

I just received news that Sierra has cancelled the beloved Leisure Suit Larry series of games, and I am very very disappointed.

I have played LSL games ever since version 3, in fact, it was the first computer game I ever played. I loved it so much that I bought all subsequent games and thoroughtly enjoyed all of them. After LSL7, I was fully inteded to buy the next game in line, and now I got the bad news. Please do not cancel this game, ‘cause so many of us love it so much.

For Al, if this game is to be continued, maybe you could make it a 3D one?

Please save LARRY!

Stone

I’ve been always a fan of Sierra’s games. Especially adventures games. And Sierra has been famous of making a lot of fun games like King’s Quest, Space Quest, Leisure Suit Larry , and Police Quest. It will be pity to see that some of the best adventures series are going to be cancelled. I’m truly dissapointed in this decision. I have been a loyal customer to Sierra and I don’t want to see this to happen. Please, re-consider this decision. There are a lot of customers that have trusted Sierra’s games for a long, long time. I, myself have been playing Sierra’s games for more than 10 years. Please, don’t dissappoint us! Thank you very much for your time. Thank you

Hendrawan Barli

Hey, how´s everybody doing?

I wanted to help save LSL 8 because Larry is the Coolist video game character EVER! and I have played all the games and enjoyed them.

Thank you,

I just read a shocking story on a page on the internet. . .

It was about a superb game, with a suble way to make people happy, created by the most skillful crew ever. . . (drum roll). . . . I’m talking about the magnificent. . . . (drum roll again). . . . LEISURE SUIT LARRY SERIES!!! I’ve bought them all and now I hear that someone thought about putting poor Larry on ice. How could anyone think that Larry wouldn’t be worth the effort making the game? Come on Sierra, if not making the game, please sell it to another company so they can release it.

Torbjörn Andersson, Sweden

Hi!

My name is Anders, and I live in Denmark. Recently I heard that there isn’t going to be another Larry-game. I think it’s sad that you guys at Sierra will let Larry die. It’s such a brilliant concept. I’ve bought and played all the other Larry-games and had great fun in doing so. If you were to create a LSL8, I know several people, including myself, who would be certain buyers. So therefore I beg you to continue the series of Larry Laffer-games. So far you have been doing a great job (LSL1-LSL7) and I hope you won’t let me down now (LSL8).

I’ll be waiting for the release of Larry 8!

Anders Schack-Nielsen

Hello, I am Marc from belgium and I have being waiting for about 1. 5 years for the next larry game so please let it come, like he shut do , just kidding, but I would like to see the game continouing because I have all the LSL 1*2*3*4*5*6*7*and casino

Greetings,

Marc

P. S: keep Al Lowe at work

I have seen a webpage where they ask you to send a e-mail to Sierra for making Larry 8. Please make it! Do it for all the fans from LSL! We want to pay more for this game!

Please,

Robbert Cuijpers

I first knew Leisure Suit Larry in The Land of Lounge Lizards in 1989 and since then I was a strongly committed player of Sierra adventure games: I recently ordered both Larry and Space Quest collections and I am planning, once through with them to purchase the other adventure series. I am 52 but as well my children who are 22 and 20 enjoy very much both series. I must say that they learned english just in order to play smartly Larry I and II adventure when they where very young.

So, you may imagine my disappointment reading that you plan to discontinue Larry series, by far my favourite. I understand some budget matter concerning Sierra, but I think that to be a possible customer among many others may help Sierra to reconsider the decision. You may certainly consider me as a tentative buyer of next Larry adventure, if you need to evaluate the number of future customers.

Regards

Prof. Sergio Camiz

I saw in a web page that the Leisure Suit Larry Series has been discontinued. I’ve always been a great fan of Larry, and I can’t wait for another sequel of this fantastic hero. I know I’m not the only one. many of my friends also love the Larry character ans adventures. I Personnaly think that discontinuing the Larry Series is a really bas idea. I think it would benefit you in many ways to rethink your decision. I’m sure Larry fans all over the world would be glad to buy another episode of Larry Laffer’s life. That means a lot of money for you and the whole Larry business. Not to mention the support you will get from the fans for changing your mind. It could means a new boost for all Sierra products.

Hope you will change your mind

Hugo Petitpas, Larry fan forever

Why not make LSL8? It is your best seller and if you were able to make a 3d version it would boost the selling even further. The good thing about LSL is the way your able to mix sex in with humour. Many teenagers from 15 -19 love that. You can send any questions/comments/death threats to

C. Reynolds

I would just like to take this opportunity to voice my support of saving Leisure Suit Larry #8- Lust in Space. I became a huge fan after number 7 and believe that Larry’s popularity is still at ground zero and will soon sky rocket if he is allowed to live on within new and exciting games. There is a serious void of good, quality adult games out there that are actually done well and tastefully, well to a degree that is. Please give Larry one more shot to show that he’s not a loser.

Best regards,

brownie

Please make the new Leisure Suit Larry! you must keep this hilarious series going. . . I know its for only a select few people but many people enjoy it! I think if you release this new LSL I think it will be bigger then ever because more and more people are using computers and starting to game a lot on the computer. so please make the new LSL!

Hello, please don’t cancel the Liesure suit larry series, I have every single game and I would definetly buy this one if it is to be put out, almost all my friends are also fans of the series and would buy part 8. they would be upset to know that part 8 isnt going to be made, Please change your minds and make Part 8 for all of the dedicated fans out there.

Thank you.

James

I love the Leisure Suit Larry games, I have bought every one that you have ever made, please do not stop making this game, people are just starting to get into it! For example I had some freinds over and they had never heard of the game I showed it to them and the next day the all went out and bought their very own copy! I would not mind paying a few extra dollars for the Leisure Suit Larry 8 game, and I am sure no one else would either! I was planning on buying several copys of the new game and give them out to my friends for Xmas! Please don’t stop making this game I love it as well as many other people!

Thanks

Mitch

P. S. Please e-mail me and tell me where you guys stand on this!

I think you should continue/start productions of LSL8. Everyone wants it and they would buy it when it came out, I know I would. Just continue this one, please!

Thanks.

Reiko

I fully intend to purchase and support the continuation of Leisure Suit Larry, and I as well as thousands of other fans desperately seek LSL8. I enjoy the humour, the puzzles and the music about Leisure Suit Larry, and especially those are what makes it a good game. So I hope very much that you will make LSL8.

Lauri Nurmi

Hi, I’m Eric, and I’m writin to say that you should let there be a Leisure Suit Larry 8, ‘cause Larry’s the greatest man alive!!, and I’m telling you that it’ll go big, huge, and I’m willing to spend up to $70 on it!, ‘cause I want that game!, now please let the legend of Larry go on, I beg you, and I promise that I’ll buy it ASAP! Well thanks for your time.

A loving Larry Fan,

Eric Kim

I was dissapointed when I heard that you have cancelled the Leisure Suit Larry series. I would like you to allow the construction of Leisure Suit Larry 8, like you did with Quest for Glory V. If it does come out, I will be more than willing to buy it.

Scott Crowe

I understand your company is under the impression that the “Quest” and LSL series won’t make you enough of the allmighty dollar. I hope you will make another Adventure Game to Leisure Suit Larry series. I own Leisure Suit Larry 1-6 collection and LSL7. I’ve been eagerly waiting for LSL8 ever since I finished LSL7.

If I have understood correctly, LSL8 will come, when You start believing that there will be enough customers for it. You have one more customer here.

Thanks in advance

TMT

Make Leisure Suit Larry 8!! Larry Laffer and his adventures is the greatest ever made!! So make Leisure Suit Larry 8 Lost In Space now so you can continue the end of larry 7, with the boat!!

Sigmund Varhaug

I stumbled on to LSL 6 a few years ago and loved it. 7 was the most fun I’ve ever had on the computer.

I searched the web today to find if an “8” was in production, and discovered that the LSL series has been cancelled.

Please rethink this. I am eager to shell out $40 - $50 for this game if it ever comes out.

Arte Kubliczyk

I am very big fan of the Larry games, I have all the Larry games from 1 to 7 and I would like to have LSL8 too, pls don’t do this to me. Thanx in advance

A big Larry fan

Vincenzo Messina

Please produce another Leisure Suit Larry. I was bored of computer games until I found this delightfully enjoyable game!

Lourdes Touma

As you may have guessed, I am a HUGE LSL fan. . . . . or else I would not be writing this. Please do not let this series die. It is too great and too funny to let go.

Ever since I was in college I have looked forward to the next game out, and they have gotten better and better. There are too many stupid “adult” oriented games out there in the gaming world that do not match up to the standards that LSL does as far as ingenuity and creativity. We are not looking for porn, we all know that is easy enough to get instead of looking for it from a cartoon-ed little bald man, yet we do wish to play games that appeal to us. “Us” is the intelligent, mature, adult collective who want a little relaxation and humor to end a day.

Give me more of it from this game series. Give “us” more of it from this game series.

Here’s to you Larry. . . . do not leave us now.

Whomever is responsible: Please consider the mass appeal. Although there may not be a million 14-18 year old kids playing these games, remember. . . . they all have parents (“Us”) who like to spend time on the computer too. Give us another LSL game!!!

I for one, would buy it the MINUTE it hit stores.

Thank you,

Aaron Silbiger

Charlotte, N. C.

Dave, when you go to see Al Lowe, please keep in mind how many fans there are to please and all the money to be made. This game will sell just as good as LSL 7, as you should know, you are a smart man, that adventure games are not dead. If you believe so, then why is Gabriel Knight 3 being released? When you meet with Al Lowe give him a chance.

Thanks,

Ryan Russell

It has come to my attention that Leisure Suit Larry 8 may not be produced. This must not happen. I think LSL8 must indeed come out, and if it doesn’t, I for one will not be very happy with the company. You will lose many costumers if there is no Leisure Suit Larry 8. Please do not let your costumers down. Make the right choice.

Sincerely,

The best LSL fan.

I fully intend to buy Leisure Suit Larry 8. I have played all the LSL games and have passed them all. To tell you the truth I miss Larry. I have searched everywhere to find another game just like Larry’s. I can’t find one anywhere. Leisure Suit Larry is the only conputer game that I truly enjoy and spend hours playing just for the hilarious results. Please save Leisure Suit Larry. I have honestly never bought another computer game because I love Larry so much.

Sincerely

Greer Marshall

Approx 2 weeks ago I sent this letter to you regarding your upsetting decision to destroy the adventure game genre. I have gotten no response from either you or anyone at Sierra. I keep checking the Sierra web page for a general response to all the outrage. My only thought is you are trying to figure out how to fix your mistake before it costs your company and reputation.

Again by being a women player every time I walk the aisles looking for a game to play I am constantly reminded its a man’s shootem up world. The only choices left for me is rousin game of solitaire!

Darcy Biggica-Oleksaik

Hey larry it’s a great game please release the next LSL8, here in México you´ve got a lot of fans that will be able to buy the game. . sorry for the misspelling.

truly Yours

Francisco Amber!

Hello I’m a big fan of yours nad of course of Larry’s. I must say I really enjoyed the LSL serries and I (as many many others) would really like to play at least one more of Larry ‘s adventures. So please make whaterver is possible to release this game. . for me Sierra means Al Lowe and Larry. . . Nothing more. . . (well except Starsiege :))

Please I beg of you don’t stop. . . . . I want to see another(more) beaver(s) in the game :) Thank you and I belive you won’t let down millions of fans. . . .

Daniel

Hey there!

Since I LOVE LSL games, I started seacrhing the net for info about the release date of LSL8. And to my BIG surprisem, I found out you’re thinking of not release LSL8! I think it’s a release bad decision - It’s my favorite game! Everyone loves it, it’s so funny! I have been waiting for it for a long time cuase there isn’t another game that is as funny as LSL games are! (And you also said in LSL7 that there will be LSL8 - We can sue you for false advertising! ;-) )

I just wnated to know if it’s true that there isn’t going to be a new LSL game. If you are thinking not to make one - I think you should think again. . .

Thanks for reading,

Roy.

I wrote on www. Roboto. com to tell everyone that I feel so sad that Larry isn’t going to “come” (nice pun huh? ;)) anymore. And I feel quilty, I once pirated Larry 5 and I thought. . . This is so unfair to Mr. Lowe, can I do this to him?? I said: NO! and I bought Larry Collection and Larry 7 the same day I pirated Larry 5. I felt so bad, I stole from you sorta. (forgive me! :( )

Well, I grew up with your games, first game I ever got addicted on was Donald Duck’s Playground. I even took German to be able to understand the german dubbed interview of you. Right now I’m listening to that “Sierra Reunion” and laughing and laughing at that “Conrad” dude :) So being a GREAT fan I wonder, What is Al Lowe doing now? Will Larry popup in any game? Hey! why not make a passionet Patty game? that would be cool! although she wouldn’t have any problems getting laied and that sorta ruins the fun of the game.

Who’s Larry’s voice in number 7? I love that voice! And the picture of you in the boatclothes is funny ;)

I know your a really busy man, but would you mind mailing me once? sorta make my day!? :) it would be cool to tell my fiancee (she a boat engineer, hates computer games) that I spoke with my hero and Idol :)

I might even get to work with computers next year, :D.

Sincerely,

Alexander Angeltveit

Norway

PS: Do you send those tacky autographed pictures? If so could I be tacky and get one?? ;)

Over the years I purchased and really enjoyed the first three LSL games. (two has always been my favorite!) But through several moves, a tour in the Navy etc I sold my old computer and all of the programs with it. I am now back in computing with a Win 95 based machine and from what I have seen the old DOS programs don't work very well with WIN95. (I bought the old Aces CD collection from Sierra and to my extreme displeasure discovered that not a one of the programs works on my machine. ) My question is, since I am not a programmer myself, how difficult would it be for you guys to transfer the code from the old DOS based LSL's to WIN95 format? I am sure that some changes would need to be made, but the real guts of the program could be pretty much the same couldn't it? If this is possible, have you guys considered it? I saw a LSL collection in the store but was reluctant to buy it because of the Aces experience, all that I need is five more CD's that won't work on my machine. I sure would be interested in hearing about any talk that is going on with the old LSL games, they are most definately classics, and many of my friends that are new (post DOS) computer geeks have never heard of Larry, what a shame.

Thanks, you are the GREATEST!

Preston Smith

Don’t take the subject to serious. I’m just sad about, that you left Sierra. I hoped, that there would be a Leisure-Suit-Larry 8. But this is no subject to talk about anymore. It makes me sad, that there won’t come an 8th part of the Larry Laffer-series. Of course, Sierra has the copyrights for the name, but without you they are not able to make a new Larry-Laffer game I think. The only thing I can do is to play all Larry-Laffer games once more. You know, that I am a great fan of you and Larry. I will keep this Nickname forever. But do you want to do now?? Make new games? Enjoy the rest of your life? I was very shocked, when I read this. Please write me back. I will always be a fan of you!!!

Alexander Benesch

How are ya'?!? Ive been sending TONS and TONS of e-mails around to hundreds of LSL fans on saving LSL ALL FOR YOU (MR. LOWE) AND MR. LAFFER! I HOPE to God that David doesnt cancel the LSL serries!

I think that Sierra should give the game serries to the game designers like:

·          LSL to Al Lowe (thats you)

·          KQ to Ken and Roberta Williams

·          and SQ to. . we'll. . . . . . . who-ever. . .

Don’t you think? I don’t think its fair to you (Al Lowe) for Sierra to take all the credit for the games when they should be yours!

Please reply when you can. Sorry I ask so many questions. YOU’RE THE MAN!

-Tom

#1 Al Lowe fan,

I realise that you probably receive a lot of mail regarding the cancellation of Lsl8, and that you are not the one responsible for the decision. . . However, we all decided that we would like to show our appreciation for all the hours we have spend playing the Larry games. Hope some solution shows up.

Hey, if it wasn’t for Larry, we wouldn’t be gettin’ anything at all. . .

Much love,

Michael Kofoed, Charlotte Evald, Laila Thomsen & Chris Evald

Thanks for all the larry games. my wife and I had alot of fun playing them (quality time spent together). is there any chance of “lust in space” getting marketed? again thanks!!

Rob & linda vanderwel

Hi

I’m really sorry about you losing your job at Sierra. I was looking forward to LSL8

Erik Enblom

We want Larry 8!!!! Please please please please please please.

Marko Ruusumaa

Hi Al,

It’s been a long time, yesterday I found out why. I went to Sierra yesterday to see how everyone’s doing. They’re all depressed - we had such high hopes for Havas. They’re really angry that you had to leave, they all want you to start your own business and hire them.

I gotta tell you Al - I almost cried. Not so much about your leaving, I know you’ll do fine without them, but rather about what the favorite company of my youth has come to. I was really looking forward to the Foot Camera, especially because Futt (same pronounciation as Foot) in German means vagina.

Nathan

Hi!!!

God I just love your games and I love u. Please write to me back it wold mean the world. I am your biggest female fan. You are the greatest.

Sarah

Hi ya. . . Just wanted you to know. I love playing the LSL games. . Also heard LSL8 might not becoming out? Be sad it didn’t come out. Also wanna thank you for all the LSL games so far. . I enjoyed them very much

Harvey.

Is the rumor true that there is still talk of Sierra releasing your Leisure Suit Larry 8 game? I am a Larry addict, and I desperately need a fix.

Thanx for your time.

Jarrod Stoddard

I’ve been reading about this business luncheon, and wanted to wish you luck! May Larry live on. With all the petitions, e-mails, message board posts, etc. , I hope they realize that Larry is a beloved character that the fans are willing to fight for! (Hear the “Rocky” theme here?) Yo Adrienne!

If they’re looking for a different concept, here’s a few- -put out a series if unrelated Larry adventures that poke fun at the lack of a Larry 4, call it Larry 4. 1, Larry 4. 2, etc. , and have Larry go through the other adventures in the Sierra titles. (example: Larry gets stuck in a haunted brothel/house, a la Shivers, gets stuck in space with Roger Wilco, etc. ) -Larry: The Interactive Movie. Put together a live-action game, where the premise is that it’s a swinger’s manual, and the player has to get Larry out of each “chapter” when he gets into trouble.

Hope these help, and I hope things go well for you, no matter the outcome. Good luck!

Mark Willman

Hi. We live in Turkey. We enjoy your games for 9 years. We love LSL series and we wait for LSL8. In addition, if you launch LSL8, a lot of people will be happy. This is your choice. Do your best.

Love from Turkey,

Ilhan & Esin

Hi Mr. Lowe

Just another fan mail headed your way :). I want to say I’m a big fan of the Leisure Suit Larry series, and was sorry to hear news of your release from Sierra a couple months ago.

I understand there’s a rumor that you’re meeting with Mr. Grenewetzski to discuss the future of Larry—I hope if the rumor’s true, all goes well and you get to hook back up with Sierra and make more wonderful Larry games!

We would love to hear from you on the Sierra LSL forum from time to time, if you get a free moment or three. There’s so many fans from around the world who’d love to hear from the “LSL God”! Feel free to drop by http://marcus. Sierra. com/forums/larry/index. htm once in a while.

Well, good luck with your endeavors—I hope your future shines as brightly as your career with Sierra!

Tex Gotanda

If this is really you, the one and only legendary creator of so much nice, I would just like to say this: even in Belgium there are people, me, who would just fall at our knees of admiration for the work you have done and we can only hope and praise for more, just a tiny bit more.

Friendly Greetings,

Jan Jacobs

I love the Larry games and I am hoping you’re gonna make 8 or maybe be funny and make 4 and make it so 7 games are really out. =) Anyway, you have a good thing going. Keeping making ‘em.

Chris

A loyal fan

Save Sierra

Jennifer Cooke -- Sunday, 16 May 1999, at 12:14 a. m.

I have been playing Sierra computer games for almost 10 years. . . the first one I ever bought was the Perils of Rosella, King’s Quest 4. Sierra made the best games back then, and they continued to do so, until recently. Who cares about first person shooters? I hate those sorts of games, but all the quests that Sierra makes, now those are serious fun. I have recently played Quest for Glory 5, and it was fantastic. And then I heard there will be no more. . . it’s really sad. After reading this page I was horrified! Why are they doing this? Sierra makes (er, made?) the best games around, with great stories that you can really get into. Real atmosphere. . . and I have to say, I really dont care much for 3d games either. I loved Quest for Glory 5, but I could have done without Kings Quest 8. It’s just like almost every other game on the market - go around killing things. borrrrring. Please reconsider! Don't make Sierra just another company that USED to make really great stuff.

Save LSL8

John Sotomayor -- Thursday, 13 May 1999, at 6:00 p. m.

Like many others, I was anxiously awaiting the release of LSL8 and completely depressed when I discovered that the series had been cancelled. Admittedly, the decision to invest the resources to produce any large software project, such as LSL8, requires a leap of faith on the part of the executives, but 3 million copies sold speaks for itself in terms of the market for this series. I e-mailed my comment to the list of addresses posted in the save LSL8 site, and I encourage everyone else who reads this posting to do likewise. Humorous games of any type are hard to find, but Al’s hilarious and twisted sense of fun may well be unique. It is a dark day indeed when his voice has been silenced.

I hope we can make a difference and change some corporate minds. I’ve seen it work before (Babylon 5, the TV series comes to mind) and the world has been the better for it. Let’s not give up, people. Save LSL8!

I just can't belive this

Jan Jacobs -- Thursday, 13 May 1999, at 11:30 a. m.

It’s really terrible. I still can’t believe it. I was actually waiting for LSL 8 to be released. This is a dark day for me. I have also played a lot of other adventure games like from lucas arts and adventuresoft, but Sierra has always been the max. I just love Space Quest and Leisure Suit Larry is just the Max. I just want I hadn’t read this.

Don't let history be stopped by stupid management.

LSL and others

Harvey -- Wednesday, 12 May 1999, at 3:52 p. m.

WOW I can’t believe they are killing the games. . . that made Sierra what it is. . . . . I think. . when most ppl here Sierra. . they think LSL SQ PQ etc. . . pretty much the games your killing.

ALL WE ARE SAYING IS GIVE QUEST A CHANCE

Joshua P. Northorp -- Tuesday, 11 May 1999, at 8:10 p. m.

So this is Sierra, and what have you done?

We want our Space Quest

We want our Police Quest

We want our King's Quest

We want our Glory Quest, er Quest for Glory!

DON'T LET THEM DIE!!!

Where did the adventure go to?

Michael MItrani -- Tuesday, 11 May 1999, at 7:11 p. m.

What happened to good old adventure games? What happened to the company who invented the “Quest” concept? their not making action/arcade-free, adventures, and I think the last good adventure which answered the old adventure pattern, was LSL7 and that was too long ago. Not only they stopped the BEST quest series, The Space quest, there is no LSL8 in the horizon, or a new series, with strictly animation. I’m disappointed guys, What made me go look for the Sierra logo in every game store for years, is no longer there, and I guess that there are still some people who wait for fun, funny, arcade-free, adventure games.

Save Sierra!

Susanne -- Tuesday, 11 May 1999, at 6:09 p. m.

It is with great sadness that I have been reading the news about the future of Sierra. LSL1 was the first computer game I ever played, and I can honestly say it made me addicted to adventure. Most of the Sierra adventure games have been outstanding, through their story lines, characters, graphics and abundance of humor. They have also been the only games I never had any technical difficulties with. While I had noticed that Sierra seemed to be moving into a new direction, it hurts and frustrates me to think that it might be on its way to becoming yet another producer of mindless shoot-the-monster/whatever games. I’m sure anyone who has ever spend time trying to find a good adventure game among the plethora of action rubbish can emphasize with that. If anyone might take notice of this plea, I would just like to say that as the producer of such classics like the Larry series, Quest for Glory, King’s Quest, Gabriel Knight and gems like Laura Bow II and Freddy Pharkas, Sierra has been the gaming love of my life. However, if it is intent on becoming something entirely different, I may well have purchased my last Sierra game.

Where do you think YOUR going?

Josh -- Sunday, 9 May 1999, at 5:49 p. m.

It’s about time I’ve wrote to this, but I’ve been going to other places trying to fight for Larry and pals (and gals!). When I linked to this page it about 2min for it to load (and I have a 56k!!) so I know that there a lot of people writing in. So, stop fighting it and bring everybody back! You know you want! It’s in the back of your mind tearing into you, so give in to the pleasures of Larry!!!

Larry

Steve Olsen -- Sunday, 9 May 1999, at 5:31 p. m.

Leisure Suit Larry is a great character and the games are very enjoyable to play, I hope the decision to cancel the series will be reconsidered.

Save Quest for Glory!!!

Donald-Jesse Lim -- Sunday, 9 May 1999, at 3:32 a. m.

I can’t believed Sierra is abardoning all it’s fans!! the game industry will lost one of it’s pioneers!! Me, together with all Quest for Glory heroes out there, pledge to support this “save Sierra petition”.

LSL8

Bob Carbonell -- Saturday, 8 May 1999, at 8:52 p. m.

I can’t believe we’re going to allow Larry to go off into the sunset without at least a few more episodes. I started with LSL1 on my 8088 when it first came out, and have been hooked ever since. It is by far the most entertaining series of game that I have ever played. Let’s fight to save him!!

you guys

Andrew YOUNG -- Saturday, 8 May 1999, at 8:33 a. m.

You guys are cool.

Save our Favorites!!!!!!!!

Bob -- Thursday, 6 May 1999, at 8:20 p. m.

This whole company was totally built on its great adventure games. You can’t just decide not to make them anymore. Sierra’s old adventure games were the BEST (especially Laura bow 2, I just wanted to add that) and will be played by several people for years to come. Please continue to make our favorite games: King’s Quest, Leisure Suit Larry, Space Quest, Laura bow, Quest for Glory, and all the others. These are just too good to trash.

Save Larry

Anthony -- Thursday, 6 May 1999, at 3:23 p. m.

WHY DID YOU FIRE AL LOWE?!?! THE LSL SERIES WAS A BEST SELLER! I LOVE THE LSL GAMES!!!!

Idiot

pheret de ninja -- Wednesday, 5 May 1999, at 3:12 p. m.

How can the idea, which sucked, and had no real purpose, unless, that is, to destroy a company, of one man affect the whole corporation without the whole corporation having a say?!! I mean, where the hell do you get an idea to pull that crap? How the hell is the company going to produce GREAT games like: Guest for Glory I:So You Want to be a Hero and THE COOLEST: Laura Bow:The Dagger of Amon Ra.

~WHAT AN IDIOT!!!!!~

Save our Larry!

Mede -- Wednesday, 5 May 1999, at 2:12 p. m.

This can’t be true! Can’t they understand that Larry is the GREATEST adventure gaming hero!! I can’t believe Larry is dying away. . . he has always a place in my heart (if he dies) Please save him!!! (Al Lowe rules forever!!!!!!)

LSL 8

Rock -- Wednesday, 5 May 1999, at 1:08 p. m.

My name is Rock Ledoux. I had purchased Leisure Suit Larry 7: Love for Sail! about 2 weeks ago, and I must say it is the best computer game I have ever played. In a world with games like Quake, Doom and other violent games of this nature, it is nice to play a game that you can lay back, enjoy, laugh a whole lot as well as use your noggin! Very nice job!

I’d love to see a sequel to this game. I’d definately pay for this game the day it would become available. The Larry Laffer character is delightfully funny and I’d love to see him in another wacky adventure.

Sierra Kicks Ass

Abdon C. -- Monday, 3 May 1999, at 6:24 p. m.

The first Sierra game I ever played was Police Quest 3, it wouldn’t install due to a bug, so I had to um, “pirate” a copy from a friend, we’ll call him “K” (but I had already paid for it so please don’t track me down). At that time it was the best game I had ever played and I could only pass it with the help of a “K”. Next I played LSL1 at a friends, it was more humorous than a 500 page book of dirty jokes and more entertaining than Beavis and Butthead, together we passed the game. Since then I have bought the Police Quest collection, Space Quest 6, Leisure Suit Larry 7 (I lost it the day after I bought it, oops). Please, Please don’t stop making Sierra Adventure Games, they have helped me develop a personality and brought me and “K” (obviously my best friend) together.

Sierra Games

Jane -- Monday, 3 May 1999, at 3:49 a. m.

I can not believe that I will have to find another company ( if that’s possible) that make the beautiful logic games I crave!!!!! There are not many out there that I like, I do not like all the blood and guts nonsense that doesn’t take 2 seconds to figure out all you have to do is shoot everything and everybody in sight. I replay KQ except KQ8, which I have not finished yet, I don’t really like it as much as the others in the series. Are you afraid that you will get stale and flat making these games for the people on this board as well as others who get introduced to Sierra thru us??? All of the games that have been discussed on this board are considered FAMILY games that can keep a person engrossed for hours and believe it or not these games even teach a thing or two, I would not want to see puzzle/logic/adventure be a thing of the past, our wildlife is already going that way. How can we convince you that you do really good things with these types of programs?????

DON'T. . .

Jim Cooke -- Monday, 3 May 1999, at 1:28 a. m.

Leisure Suit Larry is the first game I ever played on a PC and I have been hooked ever since. I even had to search Hi and Low to find the 2nd and 3rd game but I did it and have played and beat everyone since. Its one of the few games that are for adults but not rated X. So please don’t cancel LSL8.

Thank You

JimmCooke

SAVE HIM!!!

Aaron -- Sunday, 2 May 1999, at 6:57 p. m.

We need him, we love him, we worship him: Leisure Suit Larry!!!

Please save this game, it has been with me through all my days as a single guy. What an inspiration!

Seriously. . . . whomever is responsible, simply MUST bring him back. All other games are boring. I spend a lot of time at work or with my kids, so I do not buy games for the computer, but I WOULD BUY THIS ONE as I have bought all the others. SAVE LEISURE SUIT LARRY!!!!!

SAVE 'IM. . . . . SAVE 'IM. . . . . . SAVE 'IM!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh no. . .

Adam Spradlin -- Sunday, 2 May 1999, at 3:45 p. m.

Sierra will be awful without its adventure games. LSL, KQ, PQ, the list goes on. Don’t stop making them now! Sierra made the best computer games ever, and it would be a very stupid thing to not keep making them.

Save Larry Laffer!!!

Birkebeineren -- Sunday, 2 May 1999, at 6:38 a. m.

Leisure Suit Larry is the GREATEST games ever!!

Make the game so I can have some fun!!

The game is the BEST, get that BEST game ever!!

I cant live with out it!!!

Here's the solution

Dark -- Sunday, 2 May 1999, at 3:08 a. m.

Mr. David Grambolski

You don’t want to make the games we want to buy? Then we don’t buy ANYTHING from you. We’ll cut into your revenue, Boycott until you restore Al and Sierra! I hope the government looks into this, it's an outrage!

Save Sierra

LSL8

Teemu Torkkelinen -- Saturday, 1 May 1999, at 12:32 p. m.

Leisure Suit Larry games have always been like pieces of art. The LSL series stands out from the masses of boring seen-that-been-there games with its characters and humour (not to mention those naked women).

We need more of Larry. . . I need more, the public needs more.

LSL8 is what we need. . .

dont

Brad -- Saturday, 1 May 1999, at 2:05 a. m.

Leisure suit larry is one of the best games that ive played in a while and the other is Quest for Glory I hope whoever is going to save Sierra good luck its a great co.

let it go

susan I whipple -- Friday, 30 April 1999, at 11:09 p. m.

I understand your company is under the impression that the “Quest” and LSL series won’t make you enough of the allmighty dollar. If this is true, let their creators continue the work that they’ve started. If you are so covinced that no one wants adventure games any more, why won’t you release the rights to the people who care about making adventure games? I have bought every Sierra adventure game made, stayed up way too many nights, and can even quote most of the games(even Freddy Farkus-“oh my god, I shot my dang foot off”) and still laugh years later. I have even replayed several of these games.

I cannot believe that you are discontiuing these games. And what are you replaing it with????? A frigging bull riding simulator. . . . Are you high?? where is the market for THAT??????? Who is the market “anal”ist who thought that one up? as Larry would say DOH!!! SAVE LARRY, MY KINGS AND PRINCES, ROGER WILCO, AND LOOOOOONG LIVE FREDDY!!!!! YEAAH BABY!!!

Death of Logic

Scott -- Friday, 30 April 1999, at 9:58 p. m.

In the light of recent events in Littleton, Colorado, it is amazing that a corporation would abandon logic based adventure games for the sake of mindless shoot and slash games that promote violence and desensitize our youth to the reality of death by gunfire and explosives. Certainly shooter-type computer games were not wholly responsible for the tragedy at Colubime High, but a strong argument can be made that the desensitizing violence they contain is at least partly culpable for the actions of the young perpetrators.

Logic based adventure games stimulate the intellect and provide an alternative to the all too pervasive violence of the shooters. Mr. Grenewetski owes it to the consumers of Sierra products to continue to provide an alternative to mindless computer entertainment. Perhaps Sierra can take the lead in producing responsible gaming, and position itself well in a market that is sure to come under close scrutiny in the wake of the sensless brutality in Colorado. Resurrect the Logic games!

Power to the people!

AJ -- Thursday, 29 April 1999, at 2:55 p. m.

Bring back the Sierra of yesteryears! I first started playing Larry, SQ, KQ, and HQ when I was 10 -- about the time the were first released. They were a significant part of my childhood—and adulthood! Please think of your loyal consumer base and not the quick-profit marketing niches.

I don't Believe this.

John Ray -- Wednesday, 28 April 1999, at 10:48 p. m.

I can’t say it any better than the 3, 000 people before me did: Bring Sierra Back!!!! I want Larry, King’s Quest, and all the other adventure games you used to make. I was all ready to get LSL8 and stay up all night playing the mess out of it, but, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. . . . . Sierra (what used to be Sierra)has a different plan. Well, you know what they say. . . . different is STUPID!

Save Sierra

Jor -- Wednesday, 28 April 1999, at 4:06 p. m.

I can’t believe what I am reading. I have been a loyal Sierra fan ever since I first bought a PC, and I count many of their games among my proudest possessions. Please Mr David Grenewetzki, reconsider what you have done to what used to be the best games developer around. Many of Sierra’s games are unique in their genres: I have never found any games that even compare to the Leisure Suit Larry, Space Quest and King’s Quest series. Not to mention the fantastic dark humor used in the two Phantasmagoria games. I hope that you will come to your senses, and keep Sierra alive.

Larry and Roger are immortals

Freddan -- Wednesday, 28 April 1999, at 6:30 a. m.

Please take back our heroes in production!

LSL, KQ, SQ and other Sierra products are part of our childhood. Me and my friends start playing KQ1 when it first came out and discovered a whole new world. Before the Quest-series there had been nothing that gave such feeling even after a completed session. And when I hear this nonsens that they won´t produce any more games with Larry and Roger. . . . . . . .

Stop the insanity, save the Old Sierra.

Save Sierra

Ken Harrington -- Tuesday, 27 April 1999, at 1:20 p. m.

Sierra has been my favorite game copany since the Kingsquest series first began. I was up set awhile ago to here that Roger Wilco would not be returning but now I am to understand that My favorite of all the series Leasure suit Larry is also being canceled. Now I am very unhappy. These were the funniest and fun games I had ever played. I have benn a great supporter of the Sierra company and have always encouraged my friends to buy the games because I felt that the Quality and content have always been there. Please Continue the Larry games for this devoted fan. Thanks

Save a Dying Breed

Darcy -- Monday, 26 April 1999, at 11:07 p. m.

Save Sierra!!!!

Sweet_Stuff -- Monday, 26 April 1999, at 10:31 a. m.

How can you get rid of a genre of games that Sierra pratically started? Arent enough people buying your games? I thought KQ was the biggest sell adventure ever!! unbeliveble.

Saving "Good" Games

Matt Brown -- Sunday, 25 April 1999, at 4:49 p. m.

I’m a new fan, but a dedicated one. The Sierra Games I’ve played, mostly Larry, are the only ones of it’s kind. The market is already flooded with average at best shooter type games. Save the genre, save Larry.

Larry must Live!!!

Saint -- Sunday, 25 April 1999, at 3:01 p. m.

Saving the Lsl and Space Q. sieries

As one of the biggest fans of Sierra and on behalf of 300 Sierra fans here at our home town, we would like to say that Sierra has been a great inspirement to all others who have played their games. We hope that the manager of Sierra considers the choice of not shutting down Lsl and Space Quest series. Thank you and god bless you.

save Sierra adventure games

Sergio CAMIZ -- Friday, 23 April 1999, at 9:24 a. m.

So, you may imagine my disappointment reading a plan to discontinue some adventure series, by far my favourites. I understand some budget matter concerning Sierra, but I think that to be a possible customer among many others may help Sierra to reconsider the decision. You may certainly consider me as a tentative buyer of next adventures, if you need to evaluate the number of future customers.

Keep Larry

Willy Daymond -- Friday, 23 April 1999, at 7:00 a. m.

I first played Larry 1 at the age of eight, and even though I didn’t understand what certain things were, it is by far the most fun game I’ve ever played. Please keep Sirrea, who’s adventure games where you have to use your mind are far more fun than the mindless car racing and shoot’em up games.

cheers.

Larry Scores!!!

Matt Sundermier -- Wednesday, 21 April 1999, at 7:47 p. m.

It is utterly shocking to me that Sierra “Superiors” have the nerve to take away one of the greatest role-playing legacies off the shelves, Leisure Suit Larry. I bought my first LSL game when I was fourteen and now have the entire collection. It pains me that my collection may not be expanded on. They’re classics that will never be challenged or topped. Please bring back Al Lowe and the rest of his ingenius crew. Believe me, myself and the rest of these Larry maniacs will not let you down. Remember, "the customer is always right. " Didn't you learn that in business school?

Save Sierra's Future

Matt Eichinger -- Wednesday, 21 April 1999, at 5:31 p. m.

This is very shocking to me, I think this new guy who shut down several of the divisons is going to kill Sierra. It was a stupid mistake, and I hate to say this, I hope it hurts Sierra enough to make people open there eyes and change management, and get back the people who made what Sierra is today back where they belong, and making out favorite games!

SAVE SIERRA!!!

Rob -- Wednesday, 21 April 1999, at 8:10 a. m.

First of all, I remember playing Leisure suit Larry 1, when I was 13, on my old 386, having my mum nag me in the ear about it, I’ve grown up with Larry, we canno’t let the management kill Sierra. . . . Change your mind please.

At least save the series. . .

Juanita Durkin -- Tuesday, 20 April 1999, at 10:08 a. m.

It has become increasingly clear that the new management at Sierra doesn’t care about what Sierra fans want. That used to be what set Sierra apart from other gaming companies. They actually listened to what the game players told them they wanted and delivered it. That’s why the closing of the Oakhurst facility has affected us so emotionally. That was the birthplace of many of the finest adventure games ever made.

If Sierra no longer wants the adventure gamers as part of their customer base, at least have the courtesy to sell (or better yet, GIVE) the rights to those series back to the people that created them in the first place. I, for one, would follow Roberta Williams, Lori Cole, Scott Murphy, Al Lowe and all the others to the ends of the Earth for the chance to play one more Quest for Glory, Space Quest or Leisure Suit Larry game.

I left out King’s Quest, because under the direction of the new management the last installment was more like an action game than an adventure game. Put it back in Roberta’s hands and I have no doubt that it will again become what it always had been before: a game that rewarded you for ingenuity and had a non-violent solution to nearly every situation.

I still find myself searching through all the hype for any new Sierra game in the hopes that I’ll find something intelligent hidden in there, but the pickings are mighty slim now, and I believe will be non-existant soon. So in view of Sierra’s new direction, the finest thing the new management could possibly do is simply give up the rights to those games we all love and allow someone else to continue those series the way they should be continued.

The shattering of history

Matt Synborski -- Tuesday, 20 April 1999, at 12:43 a. m.

This was sent to Dave Grenewtzki: “As an example of the course that Sierra has taken, look at the Gabriel Kinght series. Sins of the fathers was a well thought, thought based adventure game. The beast within was further from the other Sierra Adventure genre games. Now, Blood of the Sacred, Blood of the Damned is looking to be another Mask of Eternity. What I’m trying to get you to think about is the abandonment of the Historical progression that is the Adventure Genre. Adventure is what started the market. If it doesn’t seem to be selling lately, make better Adventure games. It’s like music: you can skim the good off of all the genres- Good Jazz, good blues, bluegrass, world music makes a better collection that having all the bluegrass or all the Baroque. Finally, yes, there are people who live for the Adventure genre. Half-life was great. I loved it. But nothing will ever top Quest for Glory: trial by fire. Game design isn’t all about pretty animations, and loud explosions: It’s about where you take people. That’s what gaming is: Going places you can’t go in real life; using your imagination. Adventure is just that. Please listen to me, and all the others begging Sierra for more Adventure. It’s what true gamers want. ” I’m sure I wasn’t the only one who cried when the Oakhurst Studio closed. I’ve been playing these games since I was 9 years old. People need to realize that the Genre is what STARTED the industry, and it needs to be EMBRACED.

You finally managed to survive all the adventures, met so many beautiful women who tried to kill you. They must not be successful letting you die this way. Please come back soon and let the people know that LARRY Laffer may not be killed this way.

Half Life for those with no Life, But No Life for us without Larry

Listen to the people who buy & play. .

Dana -- Saturday, 17 April 1999, at 5:15 p. m.

. . . Sierra games. Don’t stop making the good ones - improve it technically, like Sierra has been doing over the years. Everybody I know has one or more Sierra game(s) in their homes and they LOVE to play it! Special Mentioning: Space Quest, King’s Quest and even dirty ol' Larry Laffer. PLEASE??????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Save Sierra!

Sean Patrick -- Saturday, 17 April 1999, at 11:11 a. m.

The LSL games are freakin’ brillantly funny. . . What’s wrong with a little PG-13/R rated humor? I have never laughed more while playing any other video game! LONG LIVE LARRY!

Old Sierra

Robin Parker -- Saturday, 17 April 1999, at 11:00 a. m.

I remember how Sierra used to be, Space quest, Police quest, Leisure suit larry, all classics. Why have they been canned? I don't know, but they shouldn't have been.

Just adding to the list

Bethanie -- Friday, 16 April 1999, at 8:38 p. m.

Why not? I'll support the cause if it makes people happy.

What's Happening At Sierra??

Ernesto Perez -- Friday, 16 April 1999, at 10:39 a. m.

What going on down there at Sierra?? I want to know why they are canceling all kinds of things. Especially the good games like the Quest For Glory Series, the Space Quest Series, and the LSL Series. (Especially Quest For Glory) Something needs to change. The people that made the Sierra what it is or was need to be brought back. Without them there is no Sierra. At least no good Sierra. Thats what I think.

What happend to Sierra?

Felix Pratz -- Thursday, 15 April 1999, at 3:33 p. m.

I love LSL Games and many other do. Why cancel a series that has been going on (successfuly) for so many years?

What made Sierra what it is today!!

Joseph Seymour -- Thursday, 15 April 1999, at 10:06 a. m.

I think that Robarta and ken did a real good job of putting Sierra togetter. I also think that Sierra want down when they stoped making games that we loved to play. Like King’s Quest, LSL, Quest for Glory, and Space Quest The Programs for AGI/SCI stoped. . AGI/SCI Games is what made Sierra what it is Today. . There gourp out there are making games now. .

Bring Back Laura Bow!!!

Susan -- Thursday, 15 April 1999, at 1:27 a. m.

Laura Bow was purchased by my parents for me off the clearence rack about 7-8 years ago. I had never played a computer game before. I became obsessed with Laura Bow. I ate, slept, and even breathed The Colonel’s Bequest. I wished for a sequel, and a year later, The Dagger of Amon Ra was on the clearence rack. (Or at least really cheap. ) I ate, slept, and breathed that game, too. It was like Nancy Drew, except I controlled the actions. And all this was before I had Internet access, so if I had a problem, I had to keep trying until I solved that particular puzzle myself. Those were the good old days. I’m 17 now, and I still pine for a new Laura Bow. Rest assured, I still enjoy the ones I have now.

SAVE LARRY!

I love Sierra adventure games!

young age -- Sunday, 11 April 1999, at 9:19 p. m.

I grew up on Sierra adventure games and I still love em’! They open up a whole new world, an escape from the constant hustle and bustle of everyday life. An escape from the stress into a fantasy realm where the imagination is the key. You need to keep making games so that future generations of gamers can enjoy them as well as veterans. People appreciate these games so don’t get rid of them. FOR CHRIST SAKE KEEP SIERRA ALIVE!!!

Save larry

Leisure Suit Larry

Lee Jackson -- Saturday, 10 April 1999, at 8:54 a. m.

I own all the Larry games out at the moment and also most of the Kings Quest and Space Quest series and I love these type of games. Sierra still can have a future if they bring quality material like these and Half Life many other games. So come on save Larry and save Sierra.

Dave Grenewetzki

Eddie -- Saturday, 10 April 1999, at 4:11 a. m.

I was a happy dude couple of weeks ago. Then I heard about Oakhurst division shutting down and all those great employees thrown out. I was down. What the hell was that f***head thinking??!! He is a very stupid man if he thinks this so called “new Sierra” is going to live on shooters and light strategy games. Adventure games were the soul of Sierra for many , many years. Then a lot of bad shit starts to happen. People move in and out , management changes and then suddenly all of the original lineup are gone. Just some new c***suckers there. “Yes , we know how to make people happy!” Screw with it! By firing Al Lowe and many other loyal employees they did their last mistake. We must stop purchasing all non-adventure games Sierra makes. Let ‘em have their loss. Maybe they then realize they should get Lowe and others back.

Edward

Why are you killing Sierra ???

Mark -- Thursday, 8 April 1999, at 12:27 p. m.

I have been a loyal Sierra gamer for years. I just can’t understand why you would cancel the LSL series and other games and fire all these people. Sierra is being destroyed for no reason and it needs to stop. SAVE SIERRA!!!

Sierra games

TC Lytnin -- Wednesday, 7 April 1999, at 5:05 p. m.

Personally, I’m tired of all the shooter games. It’s like “oh, gee, look at that. . . I spread yet another demon across a wall. ” Sierra has always had great games that pretty much gave us an out from the normal flow of the game industry. Whether you were tripping through space with Roger Wilco or swinging through the casino with Larry it was always a refreshing break from the real world. Now Sierra officials are taking that away from us? Well guess what? I’ve been anxiously waiting for Larry 8 now for over a year now and to find out that it has been cancelled pretty much pisses me off. So much so that I probably am going to stop purchasing Sierra games until I see it. I here Blizzard and Microprose make a few good games.

What. . . No LSL8?

Leisure Suit Larry 8

Sketch Turner -- Wednesday, 7 April 1999, at 9:57 a. m.

Sierra:

The Leisure Suit Larry games are really important to a lot of people. They give us a chance to not only be a ‘swinger’ for a night, but also to laugh a lot! They are endlessly funny, and I still play all six (LSL 1-7) weekly. Each day I load a different LSL program on. I read the books and am constantly looking for more! I sing the theme song while I shower (I love that music!). I can’t speak for all fans, but I would be willing to spend $100+ on LSL8. Please release LSL8! It would do us all a big favor and give us something to do with our free time.

Please save Leisure Suit Larry 8. I was always a fan of the Larry series because of the humor and of course Larry himself. Please don’t destroy a game that I would pay way more than 60 dollars for the game. If you leave LSL8 to die then you leave the future of adventure gaming to die

The Ladies Man

Please save Leisure Suit Larry 8 and don’t let Larry die! He is simply the best (and the funniest!) adventure game character, what I know! I have bought every Larry game (including Larry’s Casino) and I really hope that’s not the last one. . . because I have waited almost two years Larry 8 and now I heard those shocked news: “Sierra had fired their employees. . . ” The adventure gaming as a genre is not dead. I’m sure thousands of Larry fans agree with me.

Thank You

Antti Mehtonen

Hi, my name is Bill, Bill Tacia (He He He) I know that I am one small voice in the matter of Saving the Little Stud Muffing (Larry, Larry Laffer). But I am one small voice out of a whole USofA and the all the other Countries that are able to purchase Sierra Products. . . . that I like to say and I’m not just saying it , , , , They are the BEST!!!!!

If I may tell you. . . Your “Leisure Suit Larry 1” was my first game. . . Wait. . . my first anything I used on my computer when I got it back in 1988. . . A friend of mine said I have to check it out. . . so I did and “I LOVED IT”. I was so into it. . . I had to have my friend help me and that was great also. . . Just think. . . A game such as it is. . . bring friends together. . . I’d like to thank you just for that. . . . Thank you :)

OK, I don’t know all the reasons why all this is happening, but I do know that when I found out that the Little guy was being snuffed out. . . I just had to say something!!!! I mean, I almost look at him as me. . . I know that is kinda pathetic. . . but I see myself in Larry. To tell you the truth, I’m done some things that Larry has done. . . and there are somethings that I wish I could do. . . I’ve even thought of seeing if there was a movie coming out and try to be the actor for the part. . . I’ve given my Pic. think it over. . . but back to the reason why I’m writing. . . . I will 100% buy the next Episode of the Saga of my buddy Larry Laffer. I have every one of them so far. . . . and if you keep making them I’ll keep buying them. . . and so will everyone else. . . we are hooked. . . you have a great thing in your hands. . . don’t waste it away. . . I really don’t know what to say to make you change your mind. . . so I’ll say this

Let Larry Live!!!!!!!!!!

Sincerely, Bill, Bill Tacia

Dear Sierra Administrators, Programmers, Customer Service,

I was saddened to see that Sierra is thinking of letting two classic adventure games (Space Quest and Leisure Suit Larry) to discontine. You can’t do this!! These games have too much above the low brow 3D look-the-same-as-everything else fighting games. These two games I was introduced to in college. I never forgot them and have recently picked up the compilations. The one-liners and funny movie scenes are hilarious. One can’t beat the off-the-wall humor of Al Lowe and the Two Guys from Andromeda! I will be gravely disappointed and will think less of Sierra if they determine to drop these two game sagas.

I know that there is a large, almost cult-like, following of these two game series. It could be for the sheer wackiness of the adventures. But that is what makes them so appealing. I love the never knowing what to expect and having to make strange combinations of my items in the inventory in order to make something happen in the game. And even being rebuked by the narrator if my MacGyverish combo of inventory items won’t work in the given situation. I’ve seen Roger Wilco and Larry Laffer go from small fuzzy pixelated figures to detailed characters with audio for themselves, other characters and a narrator. I’ve seen strange quotes relating back to previous encounters and games. It’s funny to see the interconnectedness of the adventures! Funny things are always popping up from earlier games and referring to later games too. There’s some funny dialogues in these games! And the strange but appealing twists are what keep people coming back.

I am not a King’s Quest kind of guy! I know it’s probably a great adventure saga. But I need a little bit quirkier of a series to have appeal. These two games attract me like few games ever have. I had a 10-year hiatus from both since I initially saw them as a college student. I never forgot them though and was excited to see the compilation CDs but saddened to see that Sierra might make LS7 and SQ6 the last chapter in each series. Please, I beg you, don’t!

If you do choose to end the series, please, make it a final chapter and don’t leave us hanging with alluding to and even starting a project but stopping it. One more game for each, at least! We don’t want to see off our strange heros(?) yet!

So in closing please cancel your plans to trash the two series. We deserve to have variety in our gaming. If you truly are a software company that listens to consumers then rethink your plans for the future of these two games. Don’t make us look elsewhere for video games.

So long and thanks for Larry Laffer and Roger Wilco,

Zach Pool

Release Larry8. Because I love Larry. Do you think nobody wants to buy it?

You’re crazy. Go to www. altavista. com , type LSL or somthing like that. And you get thousands of LSL pages. All the guys who build this page will buy LSL8 because they all love larry. Do you think that nobody will buy LSL8 because LSL Casino wasn’t a good seller? That was because LSL Casino wasn’t a real Larry game.

I love Larry. Please please please please please please. Release it. Here in Holland every one likes and loves Larry. LARRY RULES!

Thomas, the Larry lover, Van der kley

Hello there,

My name is Roy and I am e-mailing after I heard that Sierra are planning to stop the release of LSL games. When I heard that LSL8 is going to be release at the beginning of the year 2000 - I was thrilled! LSL is a great game, it’s so funny , it has great graphics, and I myself know a lot of ppl that really like it too. I know that if LSL8 will be released - I’ll be one of the 1st to purchase it!

Thanks for reading,

Roy

I have heard that you have or will be cancelling the LSL8 game production. I beg you not to do this. I have bought all of the LSL games and am hoping to buy more in the near future, but if you stop then I also shall have to stop.

I have always enjoyed LSL and mostly all Sierra products, and so have most of my friends and family. I dearly hope for all of the people out there that do enjoy these games as much as my friends, family, and myself that this game will eventually be on the shelves of computer gaming stores everywhere. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

LSL fan,

Sean Holloway

Hello there,

I am writing to you because, after some searching on the web, I came across the Leisure Suit Larry site. I was looking for some game hints, and discovered a message on the message board that said Al Lowe had been fired.

I followed a link from there to a site talking about the fact that future plans for the next Leisuire Suit Larry game have been shelved. I hope this is not true, but I have a feeling it is.

I am an employee of Knowledge Adventure who knows a lot about what consumers are looking for in a game. I also know, as a purchaser of all seven previous LSL games, the quality and hilarity that comes out these projects. They are wonderful, funny, and imaginative. I think it’s a horrible injustice to discontinue such a well-made, humorous product when so much more avenues could be explored in this genre.

I think, with all of the “shoot-em-up” games that are continually being produced, the Leisure Suit Larry games are a wonderful non-violent alternative. It is a disappointment to me to see this game disappear. . . I know of many people who would love to see more LSL games, and would be eager to buy a new one should it come out. Please, consider what I have said and know that many others share my view.

Liz Stockton

Hello,

I have just recently started playing the “LSL” series, and I think that they are some of the funniest and most addicting games around. I’ve been playing video games since I was a kid from Atari to the C64 the Sega series and now my PC. I don’t think I, ve ever found a game like these. I really would hate to see the legacy die at 7. I could play these games forever. I am also starting to get some of my friends involved, they really like it also. I would pay the $40-$50 for an “LSL8” no problem, and I’m sure my friends would also. Please reconsider your decision to not follow through with the Larry series.

A Concerned Laffer Lover

I have purchased the collection of LSL and had a lot of fun with all of them. I like women, puzzles and sex. I have finished 4 out of the five. I am only half way finished with LSL5. I haven’t bought LSL7 yet, but will when I finish LSL5.

I would like to see a LSL8 to add to my fun, adventure and my personal pleasure. Please don’t let Larry die an early death. The reason why LSL games haven’t been selling as much is because the majority of the LSL fans who already have the programs don’t need to buy another copy of those same programs.

Besides, a lot of people don’t know about LSL. You need to advertise to a larger group of people in other areas than just the immediate area if you want more people to buy your LSL games. You need to keep it alive because the people who buy them will keep buying them as long as new episodes of LSL come out, and as long as you advertise the other games people will decide to buy it or not.

Another reason why it isn't selling as much is because the King County area is a pretty conservative about their money and because of the religious background of the people living in that area of the state may not buy them. I hope I have cleared up the problem.

Just emailing about LSL8. I was hoping it was going to be released last year. . but it wasn’t =\. . . but hoping for it this year =) its a great game. . many people love it. . It’s also very funny. . . I can’t believe there isn’t a market for this type of game. . . . and yes paying 40 to 60 bucks for it is worth it. . . I always bought the LSL games from my local software store which end up being 80 bucks, , , but it’s worth it =) I hope your able to release this game soon. . I can’t wait to see what LSL8 is like!!!

Have a good day

When I heard there might not be a LSL8, I almost felt as if I will have no more amusement or adventure anymore! LSL is my favorite adventure series of all time. I hope that you do not stop this great series. I must know at least a few hundred people I know that play the games, trying to get all points, or any weird easter eggs. Ever since the first game came out, I knew this game was going to be a big hit. I must have played the game for 20 hours straight when I bought it. I never got the second one until the Collection came out, so I was very grateful that came out. But whatever you do, don’t kill your best-selling series. I know that I would buy that game right now if it came out. I would take whatever I could out of my account and buy it, no matter how high the price. But, please, do not get rid of it. It has made me laugh and get through those bad moments just playing the game for 5 minutes or so. I have told many of my friends who used to not know of the games, and they now own the whole collection, playing all of them constantly. So, please, let LSL8 come out, and continue coming out, so we may never forget of the Leisure Suit wearing loser we all adore. Thank you.

Daniel Kielman.

Dear Sierra,

My name is Chris. I’ve been a fan of Sierra since I played LSL 3 on a friend’s computer. I was amazed and wow’d by this and the other Sierra games. You would get involved with these adventures. You could be a king trying to save his family (King’s Quest), a goofy janitor on a distant planet (Space Quest), or a perverted 40 year old trying to get laid (my favorite, Lesiure Suit Larry). These games gave me great memories. When I found out that Space Quest was discounted, I was outraged. Not Roger, I said to myself. But when I heard that Leisure Suit Larry was gone as well, I was horrified! The LSL games were the funniest games I have ever played. Even though the subject matter was not socially exceptable, who cared. When else would you have to switch books behind a librarian’s back to make her sexual active? Now, I love Sierra games so much, because they rarely disappoint. When your company made a 3d shooter (Half-life), it was the greatest game in that genre I’ve ever played. But, now your turning your back on your roots. That is just unacceptable. So, please continue the LSL series and bring out LSL8. If you don’t, I and my fellow computer users I know will not buy another Sierra game again.

Good day,

Chris Barfoot

Hi

My name is Martin and I played the Leisure Suit Larry since the first one come out. This is the best game I’v never played. I have buy all the 7 game and also the pack with game 1 to 6, with the vga version of larry 1. The entire series of Larry is very good, all the 7 game are very fun and I’ll never by tired of this game, also the police quest series and the space quest. I’m 21 year old and I grow up with Sierra game, so I can’t think that the Leisure suit larry series die like this. . . I will always support SIERRA for all the game that you made because I think SIERRA is a very good entreprise and all the game are good, from GOLDRUSH to SWAT 2, and I hope that Leisure suit larry 8 will be another great game like only SIERRA can make.

Hope to play Larry 8 soon. . .

Sincerely,

Martin

Attention to whom it may concern,

I just found out that you guys aren’t gonna make Leisure Suit Larry games no more. What a shame. Atleast 200 of my friends I have, buy Sierra games. And the games they mostly buy are Leisure suit larry games. It’s a shame you good software makers, feel that you can lose so much money. I want a Leisure suit larry 8 game. My friends want it. The world wants. Who would buy Sierra games if you people don’t make the best game of all time Leisure Suit Larry games! And Phantasmagoria, which seems to me like those aren’t gonna be made no more. But Leisure suit larry 8 needs to be made! In Leisure Suit Larry Casino it says coming soon! What is it false advertising? Thats wrong to use your customers like that, we pay ALOT of money and support you guys. Without us, you’re nothing.

Leisure Suit Larry games must go on!

Sincerely,

John Ketsemidis

Please don’t cancel Leisure Suit Larry 8. I’ve been looking forward to buying it ever since I saw it’s advertisement about a year ago. I think Al Lowe makes the Leisure Suit Larry games so additicting and fun. I love playing the games and I get hooked on one whenever I get a new one. Please don’t take that fun away from me or any other devoted fan.

Spit Waddy

I am a customer who has been very supportive of Sierra and liked your products very much. I learned that one of my favorite series “Leisure Suit Larry” was being discontinued and I have purchased all of them, and would have purchased the next one had it been made. A lot of people I know would buy a copy to. So please, resume the project so that those people, and I can have a copy.

I just wanted to contact you to tell you that I think it would be a great mistake if you didn’t continue the Leisure Suit Larry series. I know that I will pay a mere 40-50 dollars for these great games. Please don’t let the legacy die. Release LSL8, many customers will be forever greatful.

Thank you

Andy Flocchini

Hello. My name is Seth Millstein. It has come to my attention that you have decided to cancel the production of “Leisure Suit Larry 8, ” and any other games in the series.

I have been a fan of The Leisure Suit Larry series since it came out, and when I first played it, I was amazed. When I found out that I could interact with everything in the game, and the game would have a hilarious comment to go along with it, I realized that it was the game I had always been waiting for. Previous games of this sort had restrictions, they would only let you “look” at items/people that were important to the plot of the game. But in Leisure Suit Larry, you can play the jukebox, talk to everyone, and even attempt to tip the cabbie (this is all in LSL 1).

Also, it is one of the few games that I can play repeatedly over and over again, and never get bored of it. So I immediately bought all the other games, and I own every game, every version to date.

When I learned that Leisure Suit Larry 8 was being made, I was ecstatic. I mean, it was hinted at in LSL 7, but I didn’t think it was for real. So I eagerly awaited the release of it. However, when I checked back at my favorite Leisure Suit Larry web page, I read the news that it was being cancelled.

This hit me like a ton of bricks. This is because it doesn’t pull in enough customers? The great thing about Leisure Suit Larry is that it’s an underground hit! Though it may not appeal to the mainstream audience, the portion of people that do like it compensate for the others. I mean, everyone that I know who likes it doesn’t just like it. They LOVE it. They think it’s the best game ever made (I agree). There is no game like it.

I, among others, am asking that you PLEASE reconsider the decision you have made. It would make a lot, a LOT of people happy. I haven’t bought any computer games since Leisure Suit Larry’s Casino, because I was waiting for LSL8. So please take this into consideration. Thank you very much for your time.

Very Truly Yours,

Seth Millstein

Good Morning,

You are probably used to getting these messages by now. But anyway.

I am a huge fan of your games. I live in Australia, It is a bit hard finding the older games that Sierra has made. I bought Quest for Glory 5, that was amazing, well done. But if Qfg5 can be excellent don’t you think that a Leisure Suit Larry 8 game would be too. You wouldn’t BELEIVE how many Adventure game lovers there are out there. People love Adventure they are fun. They are different. They are puzzling. Just look at the classics Sam and Max Hit the road was there ever a funnier game. Kings Quest 6 BRILLIANCE sheer Brilliance no game with better music, gameplay. Leisure Suit Larry who could get sick of that little pervert. If you look back through the history of Sierra how many of the Games were great and then check if any of those games were Adventure. They most likely are. Anyway I better be off got a busy day. Thank You for taking the time to listen to my opinions if you have read this far.

From Loyal and devoted Sierra fan fro LIFE

Andy Scott

To Whom It May Concern:

For several years now, I have been enjoying the Leisure Suit Larry series of computer games from Sierra. When I heard that the eigth game of the series may never be produced I was gravely dissapointed. It was one of the few games I felt would be worth buying in the coming year and I’m that thousands of other fans feel the same way. So, I urge you, please please continue the series, for me and the rest of the fans of Leisure Suit Larry. Consider my $40-$50 yours in advance.

Sincerely,

Nick Laird

Save the greatest part of Sierra. Al Lowe, Roberta, and Ken Williams, and Scott Murphy made Sierra what it is today, and my friends and I vow to boycott all Sierra products until these great minds are put back into their rightful places. This is the biggest mistake in the history of the adventure game genre, all because Dave Grenewetzki, doesn’t want to fly. I will do my best to see that nobody buys Sierra software until some of the greatest game designers are brought back to their rightful places.

It’s me again, I e-mailed you before asking if you were the Al Lowe who created the great game series Leisure suit larry. First I must say, it’s a pleasure to have you e-mail me back. You just made my day, to have the man I admire actually e-mail me back. Your games are totally awesome! Especially Leisure Suit Larry Casino, I play that game everyday, It’s a load of laughs. Now I don’t mean to discourage you, but I just have a simple question, is there ever gonna be a Leisure Suit Larry 8? I mean I heard alot of talk that It’s been pushed back, then decided not to be made, but I never heard the truth. Your games are the best, Well I don’t own all of them no more, after losing 3 of my cd’s, The LSL Collection, and LSL 7, but I at least got Leisure Suit Larry casino. I love your games, they make me laugh which is very hard to do, because last year I lost my fiance to cancer, and I’ve been all depressed, but your games make me laugh so hard! I don’t know if it’s true that you quit too, but I hope it’s not! I hope there will be more great Leisure Suit Larry games made! Maybe you can be my online friend, I don’t have many online friends, and it would be a pleasure to be your friend! Well, hope to hear from you soon!

Sincerely,

John W. Ketsemidis

I REALLY hope that LSL 8 is coming soon. I have all his games and it would be nice if I can add LSL 8 to my collection.

Are you still working on LSL8? I would be very sad if not. I’m looking forward to this game like no other! If Larry8 is not going to be released my life is senseless! Please keep this great game going!!!

A FAN

Hey Al. YOU RULE!! thanx for the wicked Larry games man, they were fun. Sorry about Larry 8 getting brutally murdered by Sierra. I was really glad to hear you guys talk about it and then they just drop it. Dickheads. But anyway, you are wicked and thanx for the games.

Adam Aubry

Just finished Larry 7; I know, I'm three years late to say it, but fantastic game. After all the minor adventure games that came out the last couple of years, LSL was a relief and it contains the magic that made Sierra and your games so great. The logical question that arise (no, I'm not Spock) what are your future plans? Will the world see some Al Lowe's Associates games?

Personally I’d love to see a game something like Freddy Pharkas. I liked your LSL series but Freddy is my personal best choice: the story, the humor, the hard puzzles…

Asta la vista Al

New Line-up sucks!

Daniel Ingroff -- Monday, 31 May 1999, at 4:09 p. m.

Am I the only person who recently looked at the line-up of new sierra games and wondered why only ONE new adventure game is being released? Am I the only person frightened by this? Sierra USED to be the company that put out sublimely strange games such as “The Bizarre Adventures of Woodruf and the Schnibble”, The Goblins series, Space Quest, and LSL. Now it’s Half-Life this, Half-Life that. And you know what? The game is only a stupid take on DOOM, generic to the countless others out there sucking up the moneys of violent teenagers.

Sierra, if you’re not going to make new interesting games, why don’t you re-release all the goodies? (Not in Game Packs, those are a waste of money) All the old space quests that you can’t get seperately, LSL’s, Goblins, plus countless others. Fufill this simple request, and you will satisfy the palettes of the true gamers until you come to your senses.

Lsl was my first game.

Askre -- Monday, 31 May 1999, at 7:01 a. m.

I just cant believe that they are going to stop the Lsl series. Lsl 1 old version was my first game, and I enjoyed all the jokes in it. Few days a go I was in vacation on Faore Islands, and guess what I bought. I bought Leisure suit larry collection. If Sierra is really going to stop making adventure games, they are in fact closing the Sierra company, just using the same name.

Hey Everyone!

Darcy -- Monday, 31 May 1999, at 12:05 a. m.

Don’t forget to keep signing the petition and keep sending those E-Mails cause if you don’t Sierra will just figure, “yeah they were upset for a while but they got over it, we don’t need to do anything!”

I don't get it

Darcy -- Sunday, 30 May 1999, at 11:55 p. m.

In this day in age of fickel customer loyalty, you would think most companys would give their eye teeth to have the long standing customers like those who have signed the petition. In reading through this posts I have realized that most of you, (like me) have been loyal Sierra for 10+ years. If you figure that the 400 people on this board represet 75000 fans, (taking into account those with out internet availability and those who don’t know what’s happening), and each of us has bought 20 games at say $25 each (when you average it all out), that come to a total of $37, 500, 000!!!! When most companys hope you’ll buy one game before jumping ship, how can Sierra drop these game lines? They might not make the big bucks as a one time release, but can’t they see that they will get a steady and large amount of revenue for years to come?! I work for an Insurance Broker and I know that our revenue comes from insureds who pay smaller premiums but remain customers for years then for those who pay large premiums and then bail when something better comes along. The managment at Sierra not only disgusts me but they seem to have no business sense at all!

Sierra is soon to be a bygone company

Lord-Zues -- Sunday, 30 May 1999, at 9:33 p. m.

I am a devote computer game playing 38 year old male and started playing computer games back with my first Commodore 64. Before that it was Nintendo. I have played more games then many people can shake a fist at and quite a good portion of those are Sierra games. Cripe, just ask the Sierra Direct operators, I am close to naming those folks by name.

I am as surprised as most other loyal Sierra fans are that they have taken a severe turn to the worse. Sierra became famous for providing outstanding games that the people asked for and providing good support for those games.

The first thing I seen erode away was the support. Support has gotten absolutely rotten over the years. When I can provide proof of purchase for a game and it comes with a bad CD but Sierra won’t replace it without a substantial fee then that is totally unsat to me. This is one of about 20 bad CS occasions I have had in the recent years. The second thing to bring to light is Sierra became famous by developing games that people loved to play. When they asked for more, they got it. This is why Sierra is one of the only companies that have games numbering in the 6th, 7th, and 8th versions and one of the reasons they have lasted for as long as they have. They have continued to grow and become famous as one of the top sellers of games because of this. So tell me, what has happened? Have the people decided that we are tired of these games and don’t want to see another new release to an ongoing series? I think not, let me tell you that from personal experience and all the thousands of messages I have read on the forums, this is the complete opposite of the truth. I would say that on any given day there are close to a hundred new posts from folks asking for an answer to why they will never see the next game in a series.

Why has Sierra decided to not listen to us anymore? Is it because there is some ulterior motive that they strive for and are keeping it secret from the millions of devoted fans?

I think that if Sierra wants to continue to be a top gamer industry then they had better take a close look at their roots (that that made them famous). Following that they need to look at how they have grown as a result of that and then take a very close look at where they are headed at this very point in time. I think it will look very ugly and maybe it hasn’t got to the point yet that they think it is a very serious problem but they better see the light soon because it doesn’t take a college graduate with a degree to see the trend that is happening. If Sierra insists on keeping the current trend of bad customer service and failure to listen to what their devote followers are saying then they will be seeing profits fall like a dieing dragon’s scales from the sky. Come on Sierra, want to be number one again? Then listen to your customers. Take a close look at how you provide customer service and where your developement team is going with new games. I encourage new games because without some new releases that will build on a new series, then you will go under just as fast, but for the sake of your devote fans and your company as well, listen to those that are saying they want more of a good thing. Get your designers and team back together and start making some 8’s, 9’s and 10’s.

Thanks, A concerned but disappointed follower.

Save the Games

JayMan -- Sunday, 30 May 1999, at 2:48 p. m.

I don’t understand how Sierra can think of closing the games that built Sierra. I began playing Sierra games with The Black Caldron on my Atari TRS-80. I am NOT a child. And this is how most of us gameplayers are. We enjoy Sierra adventure games. And we are the ones with the money. Don’t go sucking up to the youth population as tho make your games more in the now, give the guys with the cash the stuff they want. I want them all Leisure Suit Larry, Police Quest (Not SWAT), Quest for Glory, Space Quest, King’s Quest. Theses are the games that set the pace for gaming. And if Sierra thinks Adventure games are dead. . . maybe they should talk to Capcom about their adventure/horror line. I believe “record setting gross” was the exact quote. Hmmm. Just something to consider.

Save LSL

terry matthews -- Saturday, 29 May 1999, at 2:55 p. m.

If sierra cancells the LSL series, I will NOT BUT ANOTHER PRODUCT FROM UNTIL THEY DO. I have played the LSL series from softport all the way to number 7, and I think its quirky, funny, and a great game. So here’s what I say to you sierra, open up LSL8 or beware!

Oh , and al lowe sohould open up his own game company is sierra won't make LSL8!

Save Larry And Sierra!!!

Guran -- Saturday, 29 May 1999, at 9:45 a. m.

I’m 20 yrs old. . . and the first time I saw a Larry game was at my friends house when I was about 10 yrs. It was Larry #1, and I loved it!!! I asked my parents if they could by the game to me. . . but when they found out what the game was all about. . . they said NO!!!

So I started sneaking over to my friends house in the middle of the night. . . And when my parents found out they gave me a spanking. . . But anyway. . . the thought about not being allowed to play the game and the fact that it was SO FUN made me continue sneaking over to my friends house. . .

Now I own every single Larry game + all Caesar and SWAT games. And to everyone that sees this, don’t hasetate to write. . . just DO IT!!!

LSL8

Chris -- Saturday, 29 May 1999, at 9:37 a. m.

OK. . . It’s like this. If you don’t want to make LSL8 then I’m sure that ANY other company will!!! Just sell the goddamn rights!!! As for example. . . my uncle owns DMA. . . and if you don’t want the rights. . . He would SURELY LOVE THEM!!!! So, Al Lowe. . . that’s something to think about!!!

The Future of the Things we Treasure

Mandy -- Saturday, 29 May 1999, at 1:06 a. m.

I’m 17 years old. I’ve been playing Sierra games since I was a child, before Nintendo or ANY of that. I am completely OBSESSED with the Phantasmagoria series, and yes, I want a #3. I almost cry thinking I’ll never see it—and what about those people’s jobs? Yes, it’s very upsetting that those games may never come out, but what about everyone who poured their heart and soul into their work, who gave it everything and spent hour after hour knocking back cappucinos till their eyes wouldn’t stay open, just to get those things TO us? I just don’t see the logic in ripping a hole in the fabric of this legendary company. Compromises can be made -- please, please, consider.

Please save Larry!!!!

Leisure Suit Larry fanatic -- Friday, 28 May 1999, at 6:31 p. m.

Once I went to my friend’s house and he had Leisure Suit Larry:Love For Sail(LSL7). I thought it was so funny that I bought a copy for myself. Then I thought. oO(This is part 7! I wonder where I can get 1-6). I went to a store and bought LSL5. About a week later I bought the Leisure Suit Larry Collection. I read the whole book that day. Then I installed it and beat all of the games with all points. Those games were so cool that I bought other Sierra games like Police Quest Collection, Space Quest Collection, and King’s Quest Collection. I waited for any sequels that came out and bought King’s Quest 8 and Police Quest SWAT2. Leisure Suit Larry was the funniest game series though, so I wait and wait for LSL8. PLEASE SAVE LSL8!!!!!

PS. E-mail me if u know where I can buy any Quest For Glory Games.

I agree

Steve Messer -- Wednesday, 26 May 1999, at 11:08 p. m.

I have been an avid fan of Sierra games since I was 5. I spent all my time playing every game I could get my hands on, but I found there were all games created by Sierra. Now this crap happens, and I’m really hurt because of it. I seriously planned to try to get a job working for Sierra, even if it was some crappy half-ass job. I’d be happy working as a janitor, so long as I was working at Sierra. They should feel ashamed of themselves for this shit. They ruined my life, my dreams, my childhood was worth nothing. My life is a lie. Excuse me while I slit my wrist.

Disappointment

Andrew Pan -- Wednesday, 26 May 1999, at 7:58 a. m.

My childhood in computer games was spent in the original Quest series. I grew up on Police, Space, Hero’s Quest. This was a decade ago, and I look back at those times with fondness. I still use those games as a standard to measure the quality of today’s games with. I’m really disappointed in what happened to Sierra. Today, everything’s going down the drain. The quality of movies, music, TV shows, food. . . and now computer games. I know that ppl throw money at the new crappy movies and CD’s, but I know that the computer game crowd are too intelligent to sink down to the lows of these new games. I hope they all demand that they raise the standards of computer games. Bring back the classics. Even if you just convert the old games into SVGA graphics, bring the magic back.

L. S. L. 8

Mike -- Saturday, 22 May 1999, at 10:21 p. m.

I’ll keep it simple, if Sierra comes out with Leisure Suit Larry 8, I will pay what ever amount of money they are asking for so that I can play it.

My email to sierra

Gabriel Quinzanos -- Saturday, 22 May 1999, at 1:22 a. m.

Take a Look at the email I sent to Sierra about LSL8 the have replied It today and they said they will send my message to the product manager to review my thoughts.

This is what I sent to Sierra:

I never thought I would have to write to company to keep making a product I like but , Well , here I go. I live in Mexico and I recently bought all the LSL games you have and I was actually planing to buy the new version as soon as it came out , But I found out in the LSL7 posting list that there probably wont be a new version, I don’t intend to be a genious but I don-t see why if people are still buying the previous versions Years after they were realeased, the company shuts down the new version project.

I payed 10 dolars of shipping to get the LSL1 to 6 series and when I saw there was a LSL7 I ordered it , even though you charged another 10 bucks of shipping, when it got here I had to pay nearly 40 dolars of border taxes and you know what? I though it was worth it.

I wanted to buy a couple of your new games along with the new version of Larry but , I will find it psicologically tough to buy a game from you guys if I don’t see what weird adventure larry will be involved on.

I think you should reconsider the fact that there are lots of people out there that bought Larry’s games in a shop and don’t have access to the Internet, I bet if they knew , you would be flooded with mail.

Don’t Kill Larry , It is one of the best games I’ve ever played , and for the things I’ve seen on LSL7 the 8th Larry would be one of the best games EVER.

Please Don't Ignore Me

Gabriel Quinzaños

Save Larry

Frank Dicecco -- Friday, 21 May 1999, at 7:09 p. m.

I hope that sierra will smarten up a bit and forget the idea of 3D shooters so they can stick with the good stuff, adventure.

Save the Games!

GrogBC -- Friday, 21 May 1999, at 2:21 p. m.

Hey this is terrible! I have been a Sierra fan for many years. I have loved all the LSL series, and have enjoyed many others Silent thunder, The beast within, And Lords of the Realm II was a a fantastic game. Please dont let it end!!

To bad for Sierra

Martin -- Friday, 21 May 1999, at 2:20 p. m.

If sierra don’t want to devloppe any more Larry game, other compagnies will do it. I’m sur that Al Lowe will not have trouble to find new subvention to make is game. It not verry hard to prouve, when you have sold 2 000 000 copies of this kind of game.

What in the hell are you thinking?

Gabriel Quinzanos -- Thursday, 20 May 1999, at 11:47 p. m.

I bought the Lsl series and the newest game and Im-m already regreting buying them if the company wont be making more LSL games , What the hell is wrong with you? this game is entertaining and addictive and usually a game so entertaining tends to be sold very well. I live in Mexico and I payed a big 30 dollars tax for getting the whole package, and you know what? It was worth it. I was planning to get a couple of more games when LSL8 came out , but since you won-t realease it , I WONT EVER BUY SIERRA GAMES AGAIN.

Stoping software developement is a BIG MISTAKE and shuting the larry project is a BIG MISTAKE, as you can see in this list there are a tons of people who would buy a new version of LSL, Even if it sucks (none of this games have sucked the new one wouldn-t either) , they will because the previous versions were really entertaining.

I think it is a big Merchandizing mistake and I’m very dissapointed , I thought I would be in the need of getting LSL8 really soon.

Too bad 4 u , cuz I get to keep my money.

The first Sierra game I ever played was Space Quest:Vohaul’s Revenge. . . I remember I was only about 10 years old and I played that game nonstop; so much that my parents took the keyboard away from me!!!!! PLEASE CONTINUE MAKING LSL AND SQ!!!!! Dont stop now. . . keep up the good work!!!!! thank you!

Talked to Al

LeisSuit -- Wednesday, 19 May 1999, at 10:24 a. m.

I hope that these messages make a difference. . . I talked to Al Lowe last week, and the news was not encouraging. He has met with Sierra’s bigwigs and suggested a number of different games, all of which were declined. These included:

A sierra “Quest” game that would have incorporated all of the characters(Larry, Roger Wilco, etc. ) in one final big endgame.

The game promised in both Larry7 and the Casino, in which Larry is trapped aboard a spaceship and must find a way to turn it around and head back to Earth.

I know how disappointing this is, but we have to remember that Sierra is only there as long as we, the consumers, are there. With that in mind, I propose a boycott of everything Sierra: every screensaver, every simulation, every adventure. Eventually, they will see that the customer IS always right!

I WANT NEW SIERRA GAMES

Save Sierra's Adventures!

Florian -- Tuesday, 18 May 1999, at 5:09 a. m.

I want some new 2D Adventures with puzzle in the old fashioned sierra way. I don’t care about this modern 3D stuff or the fucking action - adventure hype like Kings Quest 8 or something. Keep making adventures the way you did it since Mystery House. That’s what the gamers expext from Sierra. And overall let the guys who know how to do it like Al Lowe, Scott Murphy etc. do it.

C'mon everybody!!!

Pat Smith -- Tuesday, 18 May 1999, at 3:30 a. m.

C’mon exerybody. . . we can save Larry and adventure games as we know them. It is so simple, it just takes time and a wee bit of effort. We NEED to send Dave more letters, or else Larry is doomed. If you are having writer’s block, then allow me to show you my letter to Dave. C’mon everybody, we can save Larry. . . sign the petition and write Sierra!!! Here’s my infamous letter to Mr. Grenewetzki.

To Dave Grenewetzki,

I read this morning that Leisure Suit Larry 8 was indefinitely cancelled today. I must admit, personally, that this news comes to me as a bit of a shock. I imagine there are too many things in life we take for granted; a wife that loves us, a paycheck, good times with our friends, etc. I guess I never really dreamed of a world with out Larry, Larry Laffer. I don’t like knowing that there isn’t going to be another Leisure Suit Larry game. I took it for granted that it would be coming out soon. Both Leisure Suit Larry 7 and Larry’s Casino advertised the coming of an 8th adventure title to the series. I’ve purchased every Leisure Suit Larry product known to man, even the little known or appreciated Laffer’s Utitlities. I am always hungry for new products supporting licenses I love. For Sega, it will always be Sonic the Hedgehog. For Konami, it will always be Castlevania. For Sierra, it will always be Leisure Suit Larry. I have gone so far as to pay $69. 99 plus tax for the brand new Castlevania opus, which is merely the base of the mountain. The tip is pure frosting covered with a gaming collection that is 500 games strong. I buy all my games when they come out. I pay $40 to $70 easy for the games I want, Leisure Suit Larry is no exception to this rule. I fully intend to support any Leisure Suit Larry product that comes out from now until I pass on, as I assume that all of the other Leisure Suit Larry fans (over 2 million copies sold) will undoubtably support Larry. The difference, and subsequently the reason that Leisure Suit Larry has the strong fan base that many other games lack, is that Larry mixes with exacting proficiency the elements of adventure, comedy, interaction, story-telling, and inventiveness. Leisure Suit Larry, if I am allowed an opinion, is barnone the best adventure series ever conjured up by any creative team anywhere ever. The plot always keeps you interested in finding out what happens next. The characters are always vibrant, enchanting spoofs of reality that just keep you on the floor laughing out loud. Larry himself has so much personality that he has endured 7 succesful games (save the infamous #4) and many succesful spin-offs such as the recent Casino game. The Larry games are humorous, confounding, fresh, well supported (again 2 million copies sold), and always evolving; all qualities that prove that the Leisure Suit Larry series still has new ground to tread and a large enough audience to sell to. I love adventure games. King’s Quest, Space Quest, Police Quest, Quest for Glory, Leisure Suit Larry, these are all titles to games that I have been purchasing for years and will, provided they ever get produced, continue to purchase for a long time to come. I hate to see the adventure genre of gaming die. I remember the Sierra adds that would make all of us loyal fans believe that adventure gaming would never die. I guess 3D shoot ‘em ups and strategy games are winning the war, but I believe that adventure gaming is still a force to be reckoned with. I remember recently being part of a group of a people that wrote a whole mess of letters to Sierra to save the Quest for Glory series, which proved successful. I hope with this letter I am now sending you, and the others you have been and will be getting from the other Larry fans, you will see the amount of loyalty we Leisure Suit Larry fans have and will give Al Lowe the green light to give us what we want so much; a new Leisure Suit Larry game that allows us to support the greatest adventure game making company of all time, SIERRA. I love Sierra. Sierra has the greatest range of games in their pallet, please leave Larry in that pallet. . . it helps add color. Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

Pa
